Camping Valle Romantica
This site really lives up to its name! Situated in a wooded mountain valley, it was established about 60 years ago by the present owner’s father, who planted some 20,000 plants, trees and shrubs. These are all now well established and maintained to make a delightful garden setting. The 164 numbered pitches for touring units are on flat grass among the trees, which provide good shade. All have 6/8A electricity, although long cables are necessary in some parts. The site’s swimming pool is in a sunny position and there are two areas allowing river access where, except after heavy rain, children can play. The site is used by tour operators (24 pitches) and mobile homes are available to rent.
Camping Orta

The site is on a considerable slope and most of the 80 touring pitches (all with 6A electricity) are on the top grass terrace with spectacular views across the lake to the mountains beyond. The 105 neat touring pitches are 60-90 sq.m. with 6A electricity and mostly shaded by trees. All manner of watersports are available here and the beach is of coarse sand. The lake is fine for safe swimming. An ambitious entertainment programme is arranged for children in high season and there is adventure sport for the over tens.
Camping Valle Gesso
Valle Gesso is situated in Entracque, a village near Cuneo in southern Piedmont. It borders on the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime, the largest protected area in Piedmont and one of the biggest in Italy. It's a picturesque spot surrounded by imposing tree-clad mountains. A little away from the site, hot springs gush out in the spa complex of Terme di Valdieri, and nearby is a centre for the conservation of wolves, which may be spotted from a lookout. A secure nature walkway runs through the woods to the river.
Camping Parisi
Camping Parisi is a quiet, family run site on the beautiful western shore of Lake Maggiore within the town of Baveno. The small and compact site has just 50 touring pitches, all with 6A electricity, which are shaded by mature trees. The site’s real strength is the stunning views over the lake. It is possible to paddle and swim from the lake shore which is also good for sunbathing. A lifeguard is present. An early reservation would be necessary if you wish to occupy one of the lakeside pitches (extra charge, but well worth it!).
Camping Lido Toce
This small family owned site is the type that some will love — camping as a back-to-nature experience. The facilities here are of a very high quality and the Perucchini family team, with 50 years’ experience, are all very keen to make your stay enjoyable. The 80 touring pitches are between 80-140 sq.m, with 6A electricity and larger outfits can access the site easily. There is plenty of shade and greenery, and the beach frontage is attractive with excellent views. There is much to do in the local area. Near the entrance is a pleasant bar and snack bar which has a terrace and offers simple fare at reasonable prices. All the buildings here are bright and clean, and the atmosphere is really enjoyable.
Gofree Villaggio Touristico Camping
Gofree, an unusual name for a campsite, is owned by Patrizia Laurent. She will be pleased to welcome you to this site which is primarily an alpine chalet village. It is open all year for touring and the supporting facilities are of a high quality for all to enjoy. It is one of the very few camping sites hereabouts. The 40 undefined pitches with 10A electricity are sited in three separate, level areas close to the site entrance. Tents are placed in a separate area. A two storey modern building houses reception, a good restaurant and a bar which are at your disposal all year.
Camping Italia Lido
Arrival here is along the banks of the lake and there is a busy entrance. Reception, the restaurant and all other services are close to the entrance and there is an extremely pleasant beach, unusually with sand, in a quiet area that adjoins the main lake. It is a peaceful spot, apart from the occasional aircraft making for Malpensa airport. There are 60 pitches available for touring, all near reception, with a large number of permanent pitches to the rear of the site. Pitches are of varying sizes and informally placed under trees. Most have views of the water with a few really special ones alongside the lake.
Camping Gran Bosco
This is a modern and efficiently run site very near the Fréjus tunnel. The site was chosen to host guests for the winter Olympics of 2006, thus the amenities are very good in an area of notoriously poor campsites. A family site, now being run by the keen younger generation, Gran Bosco has many attractive features, including a smart bar/restaurant with terrace within the clean, modern building just inside the entrance, and everything is open all year. The 60 undefined touring pitches are at both ends of the site, all have 6A electricity and are on flat ground with some shade. Long leads may be required.
Camping Mombarone
This is a small, friendly, all-year site alongside the SS26 road and close to the motorway from the Mont Blanc tunnel and the Saint Bernard Pass, providing a useful stop if entering or leaving Italy via these routes. It has 130 pitches, with space for about 50 touring units on the grass areas between the permanent units. The Peretto family take pride in looking after their guests and English is spoken. The site has a small bar and a simple, inexpensive restaurant is 50 metres away. The site is thoughtfully laid out in a valley with attractive plants, shrubs and trees for shade and is surrounded by high mountains and wooded hills, with vines bedecking the eastern slopes.
