This site really lives up to its name! Situated in a wooded mountain valley, it was established about 60 years ago by the present owner’s father, who planted some 20,000 plants, trees and shrubs. These are all now well established and maintained to make a delightful garden setting. The 164 numbered pitches for touring units are on flat grass among the trees, which provide good shade. All have 6/8A electricity, although long cables are necessary in some parts. The site’s swimming pool is in a sunny position and there are two areas allowing river access where, except after heavy rain, children can play. The site is used by tour operators (24 pitches) and mobile homes are available to rent.

The owner takes a keen and active personal interest in the site, and English is spoken. The pretty little town of Cannobio is situated between Verbania and Locarno on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. It could make a base for exploring the lake and its islands, although progress along the winding lakeside road, hemmed in by mountains, is slow. Serious mountain walkers are well catered for. Steamers cross the lake, but the only car ferry across is between Verbania and Laveno.

Three sanitary blocks provide good facilities with free controllable showers. Washing machines. Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Small, well stocked supermarket. Pleasant bar/restaurant with waiter service and takeaway. Pizzeria. Swimming pool (1/5-11/9). Fishing (licence required). Sailing and windsurfing schools. Fridge box hire. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Camping Valle Romantica

Cannobio is 4 km. from the Swiss border on the SS34 Locarno-Verbania road. Follow SS34 through Cannobio turning west, away from lake, at the southern outskirts of Cannobio, just past the church and 100 m. before Total filling station. Continue on 1.5 km. to site.
