Valle Gesso is situated in Entracque, a village near Cuneo in southern Piedmont. It borders on the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime, the largest protected area in Piedmont and one of the biggest in Italy. It's a picturesque spot surrounded by imposing tree-clad mountains. A little away from the site, hot springs gush out in the spa complex of Terme di Valdieri, and nearby is a centre for the conservation of wolves, which may be spotted from a lookout. A secure nature walkway runs through the woods to the river.

There are 137 touring pitches, 70 of which have 3-6A Europlug, water and drainage, and a dedicated area with up to 70 tents. It's a site which offers something for everyone with a magnificent pool, football and volleyball field, hiking and cycling for the more active, while also maintaining a totally natural mountain retreat for those seeking a more restful break away from the bustle of everyday life at home.

The owners are determined to maintain the rustic personality of their site, and encourage campers, young and old, to explore the surrounding natural beauty. This attractive area, once a Royal Hunting Reserve, is one of the richest in Italy for botanic variety, both Alpine and Mediterranean. Occasional talks are given by visiting naturalists and local craftspeople.

There are three sanitary blocks, all kept very clean and offering a mixture of British and squat style WCs. Accessible facilities, Motorhome services. Laundry. Basic shop and bar (July/Aug). Three section swimming pool and whirlpool (July/Aug). Large screen TV. Video games. Billiard table. Playground and woods for exploring. Football. Volleyball. Communal barbecue. Bicycle hire. Directions to Camping Valle Gesso

From Turin, take A6 and A33 to Cuneo, then at Borgo S.D. turn onto S26 for Entracque. From south, use SS20 and turn at Borgo S.D. Site signposted just after Valdieri.
