You are just a stone's throw away from the docks of the ferries to Venice and the lagoon islands. For people looking for a quiet spot from which to visit Venice, this is an ideal site, even more so because you leave your car or motorhome here and take the ferry across to San Marco Square. The 200 grass touring pitches are spacious and well-maintained and have 6/10-amp hook-up points available.

Baia Holiday Gasparina

This amazing site is very large, offering absolutely everything a camper could wish for. It is extremely professionally run and we were impressed with the whole organisation. It lies along a 1.2 km. long, broad sandy beach which shelves very gradually and offers a huge number of sporting activities. The site itself is regularly laid out with parallel access roads under a covering of poplars, pine and other trees. There are 2,200 pitches for touring units, all with 6/10/16A electricity and 1,969 also have water and drainage. Because of the size of the site, there is an internal road train and amenities are repeated across the site (cycling is permitted on specific roads). A member of Leading Campings group.

The remaining pitches are taken by seasonal units, which do not affect the touring areas. An abundance of flowers and trimmed foliage gives the site a pleasant garden atmosphere. This is a great site for families who do not want the razzamatazz and noise of the bigger sites. All facilities are open during the whole season and the site is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The restaurant has three identifiable areas, the best has linen laid tables and a typical, homely Italian feel; or try the pizzas, which you can take away if you wish.
International Camping Olympia
Cortina is a pleasant provincial town with many interesting shops and restaurants and, nestling below wonderful sunlit peaks, this site enjoys a peaceful setting for its visitors. There are 390 informally arranged pitches, all with 2A electricity and some with shade. A heated swimming pool is on site, but otherwise this is a simple and uncomplicated site with fairly basic facilities. It is a pleasant centre for touring the Dolomites.

A super lagoon-style pool has a large, separate paddling area for children and loungers are dotted around the pool areas.
Italy Camping Village
Italy Camping Village, under the same ownership as the better known Union Lido which it adjoins, is suggested for those who prefer a smaller, more compact site. The 180 touring pitches are on either side of sand tracks, off hard access roads, under a cover of trees. All have electricity connections (10A Europlug) and 126 are fully serviced. Pitches are between 60-80 sq.m. but access is impossible for large units, particularly in high season when cars are parked everywhere. A pleasant heated swimming pool (with lifeguard) has two slides, one is very long. There is direct access to a gently sloping, sandy beach.
Camping San Francesco
Camping San Francesco is a large, beachside site in a quiet location close to the coastal town of Caorle (Little Venice), known for its connection with Ernest Hemingway. Although there are over 600 mobile homes to rent, 370 level, grassy pitches are reserved for tourers. They are close to the beach, shaded, and all have electricity (10A) and fresh and waste water connections. The site has every facility for a comfortable holiday, with swimming pools, an attractive aquapark (extra charge), a good beach for swimming, a large supermarket etc. However, some touring in the area from the site and a trip to Venice are also worthwhile.
Villaggio Turistico Malibu Beach
This is a family site which has direct access to a beach. There are 220 pitches for touring units, all with 6A electricity. Some are well shaded by pine trees and there are some fully serviced pitches. The beach is of soft sand, shelves gently and has lifeguards plus sunshades and loungers for hire. The central complex incorporates a bright, cheery self-service restaurant topped by a very smart restaurant and cocktail patio with views. A large entertainment theatre offers all manner of delights in high season. Other amenities include a large swimming pool, plus a paddling pool with slide and fountains. Everything around this site was clean and smart and the visitors we spoke to were happy.

On site you will find oases of relaxation, tranquillity and good entertainment, combined with the finest facilities. Veneto

Home to the unique city of Venice, the historic towns of Verona, Padua and Vicenza, plus several fortified settlements, Veneto has an abundance of sights to keep you entertained. Situated in the northeast of Italy, it stretches from the flat river plains to the Dolomites.

Venice

The capital city of Italy's Veneto region, Venice is internationally renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its popularity with tourists from across the globe has given rise to many campsites in the Veneto region, where hundreds choose to stay in order to experience the cultural sites, architectural masterpieces and natural splendour the area has to offer.

Built on a series of low mud banks amid the tidal waters of the Adriatic, the main thoroughfare through Venice is the Grand Canal. At nearly four kilometres long, 30 to 70 metres wide, it divides the city in half and palaces, churches and historic monuments line the waterway. The Piazza San Marco is the main focal point of the city, with the Oriental splendour of the Basilica di San Marco, the Palazzo Ducale and the Bridge of Sighs. With another famous bridge and bustling markets, the district of Rialto is one of the liveliest spots, while the lagoon islands offer an escape from the crowds.

Murano comprises a cluster of small islands, connected by bridges, and has been the centre of the glass-blowing industry since 1291; Burano is the most colourful with brightly painted houses and a long lace-making tradition, while Torcello boasts a 7th-century cathedral, the oldest building on the lagoon. Outside Venice, the old university town of Padua is rich in art and architecture, and Verona is renowned for its Roman ruins including the amphitheatre, which is the third largest in the world. It is also home to Casa di Giulietta, Juliet’s house, a restored 13th-century inn with a small marble balcony, immortalised in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The region is made up of seven provinces: Belluno, Padova, Rovigo, Treviso, Venezia, Verona and Vincenza.
