Camping del Mar
This site is in a rural location and great for the beach which is just across the road, 3km down the road is the town of Blanes with its shops, supermarkets and nightlife. There are 100 well-spaced pitches, these are not separated to any degree, but there are trees offering shade on most pitches; there are also a further 80 mobile homes/glamping units and tents available for rental. The site shop was well stocked, and the standard of food served in the restaurant was excellent, offering a lovely view over the modern pool complex.

Vilanova Park
Sitting on the terrace in front of the restaurant – a beautifully converted Catalan farmhouse dating from 1908 – it isn't easy to believe that in 1982, this was still a farm with few trees and known as Mas Roque (literally, Rock Farm). Since then, the imaginative planting of thousands of trees and gloriously colourful shrubs have made this large campsite most attractive. It has an impressive range of high-quality amenities and facilities open all year.

Camping Els Pins
Only the access road separates this busy campsite from a sandy beach which stretches west for over five kilometres to the resort of Malgrat de Mar and beyond. Of the 219 pitches, around 50% are devoted to holiday homes with touring pitches occupying two distinct areas. The green zone is in the heart of the resort and pitches have electricity (6A), water, drainage and TV connections and there is some shade. The blue zone has direct access to the beach and is a very quiet area with plenty of sun and little shade; pitches here are smaller and just have electrical connections.
Camping El Berguedà
The short scenic drive through the mountains to reach this site is breathtakingly beautiful. This attractively terraced campsite next to the Cadi-Moixer Natural Park, is not far from the majestic Pedraforca mountain, and the area is a favourite for Catalan climbers and walkers. Access on the site is quite easy for large units, although the road from Guardiola de Berguedà is twisting. Of the 73 grass or gravel pitches, there are 40 for touring, all with 6A electricity. The campsite was recently acquired by Huttopia Group, and renovations are planned for 2024.
Globo Barcelona
Globo Barcelona is cleverly laid out in a relaxed, amphitheatre fashion. Within the various sectors, permanent campers and touring units stay alongside each other. The restaurant serves authentic food and tapas and is within a sensitively restored farmhouse. The site is located on the beach road (N11) so is subject to some traffic noise, but the full shading of mature trees also absorbs the noise. The 176 flat, grassy pitches include 135 touring pitches, all with 10A electricity and with an average size of 70 sq.m. An elevated pool and paddling pool are waiting for you to enjoy and the beach is close by. The site was previously known as Globo Rojo.
Camping la Rueda
La Rueda is a pleasant Spanish beach site with 370 pitches, 350 for touring, 167 of these with electricity (4/6/10A). Some pitches are in a small pine wood. The circular central area has flat, grassy pitches set amongst mature trees with bamboo canopies providing extra shade; the final area has grassy pitches without electricity and with little shade. Through a gate at the far corner a road takes you, via a low bridge, under the railway to a long sandy beach. An elevated bar and snack bar serving simple, inexpensive fare overlooks the swimming pool. Below is a well stocked shop. The site is next to a railway line, so some noise is inevitable, but no trains run between midnight and 07.00.
Camping Bell Sol
Camping Bellsol is located on the Costa Brava, close to Barcelona, but not actually in Barcelona itself. It's about 49 kilometres away from the city centre. This campsite is perfect for a beach holiday since the Mediterranean Sea is just across the road. On-site you will find 250 touring pitches with electric hook up points available. The pitches are not particularly large, but the low trees separating the pitches give the site a cosy feel and give plenty of shade during the Spanish summer heat.
Camping Rupit
The last 15 kilometres of the approach road to this site are not for the faint hearted, but with due care the winding mountain roads will cause you very little difficulty, and if a remote rural setting is what you are looking for, this could be the site for you. The main area is attractive: on the right is a beautiful stone building housing reception, a bar and a restaurant, to the left an avenue of modern chalets for rent. The toilet block is also of traditional stone. There are 60 touring pitches, all with electricity (3/7A), most at the far end of the site, on level grass but with no shade and rather featureless, but the views are stunning, and in the evening with a glass of wine and some local cheese...heaven!
Camping Botànic Bona Vista Kim
While Calella itself may conjure up visions of mass tourism, this site is set on a very steep hillside some 3 km. out of the town. Any noise from the nearby coast road and railway gets lost as you gain height. Of the 160 pitches, 120 are for touring units, all with electricity and on flat terraces on the slopes, with some shade. The remaining pitches are occupied by Spanish seasonal units. There are good views of the sea from the terraces. The access road is extremely steep, with most of the pitches enjoying the lovely views. The site has been under new ownership since 2011, although at the time of our visit there was little evidence of any development other than the addition of six tents to rent.
Berga Resort
Berga Resort - This is unique because it resembles a 5* hotel more than a campsite. Although the site is one of the largest I have visited, with 621 emplacements with various accommodation options, there are just 30 serviced touring pitches, so booking is essential; most of these are on artificial grass or hard standing due to water restrictions in the area.
Camping Sitges
Camping Sitges is in Sitges, Barcelona, a popular holiday destination along the Catalan coast. The site has 308 grass pitches, of which 220 are for touring units, and it has 6-amp hook-up points. 46 accommodation options are available to rent. The 2.8-hectare complex has a huge outdoor pool with a paddling pool for the youngest guests. The site also has its own grocery store, and you can enjoy freshly prepared seafood and tapas at the onsite La Sinia restaurant. For families, the campsite offers summer activities for children and enjoyable evenings filled with music and entertainment. One of the highlights on-site is a bicycle rental service, thanks to which holidaymakers can explore the area at their own leisurely pace.
Camping 3 Estrellas
Camping 3 Estrellas is a beach site with 200 pitches for touring, generally flat with 5A electricity, informally placed under trees. Many pitches are along the beachfront, those closer to the beach having little shade, but they are enjoyable with great views – beach access is through a security fence. There are three levels of pitches: standard, beach & premium. Beach pitches on the front are premium, so advanced booking is advised.
Camping El Garrofer
This large, pine-covered site beside fields of vines is 900 m. from the beach, close to the pleasant town of Sitges. This is an attractive resort with seaside entertainments and is well worth exploring. The site has 526 pitches, many of which are occupied by seasonal caravans or chalets but are separate from the touring area. A central area on dusty, baked earth beneath the trees is devoted to touring caravans and a corner of the site has 28 pitches with water, mainly used for large motorhomes. All have 6A electricity (Europlugs). There is an open field for tents. A cosy, refurbished bar and restaurant with a small terrace offers a varied menu.
Camping Bon Repos
If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Costa Brava, then Bon Repos is ideal, if a little expensive. It is a long, narrow coastal site with many pitches along the length of the attractive fine sandy beach with direct access and no fence. The 500 touring pitches are of a reasonable size, flat with a sand surface and most with shade, and all have 10A electricity. The railway runs close along one side of the site, which is good for train spotters but does create a noise problem. The beach is the strong point of the site, having rocky outcrops and close by is the bar/restaurant with huge terrace.
Camping El Vedado
Ideal for visiting Barcelona (18km) with direct bus-shuttle (March until mid-December) to the city centre, located next to the entrance. Equipped with bungalows and mobile homes to rent. This site has 170 marked grassy and sandy pitches on terraced and levelled terrain with 6A electrical hookups. The terraced area is reserved for rallies and groups. The pitches, approximately 70-90sqm, can be fully or partially shaded. Mountain bike trails and Nordic walking are popular in this hilly region.
Camping Gironella
Camping Gironella has a picturesque setting, one kilometre outside the village of Gironella, in the Berguedà region. This campsite offers charming, well-equipped bungalows, an outdoor swimming pool and free Wi-Fi.
Camping Repos del Pedraforca
Looking up through the trees in this steeply terraced campsite next to the Cadi-Moixero Natural Park, you see the majestic Pedraforca mountain, its amazing rugged peak in the shape of a massive stone fork giving it its name. Access to the site is via a steep, curving road which could challenge some units. There are 200 pitches, including 100 for touring, all with electricity (5/10/16A) and 15 with connection to water and waste water. They vary in size and accessibility, although there are suitable pitches for larger units. The long scenic drive through the mountains to reach the site is breathtakingly beautiful. The area provides excellent walking for all levels of ability.
Camping Enmar
Camping Enmar is situated in the delightful coastal town of Pineda De Mar which is in the centre of the Maresme Coast, between the mountains and the sea. Located just 55km north of Barcelona, you’ll find a long stretch of sandy beach, together with a wide range of restaurants, great shopping and pleasant green squares and fountains. The site offers pitches of 70 m2 to 100 m2 which are dotted amongst mulberry trees and are available from June to October. They offer pitches which cater for larger caravans or campervans and they also have a wide range of 2 bedroom bungalows for rental.
Camping La Tordera-Nacions
With direct access to a beach and to a small nature reserve on the nearby river delta of la Tordera, the site is between Malgrat and Blanes. At present there are about 100 touring pitches, all with electricity (10A), and 40 of which are fully serviced. They are either close to the beach in an open area, or in a new section with 40 larger serviced pitches. There are many more under the trees scattered among the seasonal pitches which dominate this site and give it a very Spanish feel. Note: access to any pitch other than the new serviced pitches can be difficult, with narrow roads and high kerbs; staff will assist. There is a pleasant swimming pool (due to be upgraded to a complex with three pools and a flume), a reasonably well stocked supermarket and a bar/restaurant with covered terrace.
Camping Campalans
With its wonderful location in a quiet river valley, with views of the surrounding mountains and reached by a winding road, Camping Campalans is an excellent site for enjoying this beautiful area. It is said that the best wild mushrooms in Catalunya are found here. Combining camping with chalets and a small hotel, the site has 40 mostly grass touring pitches (all with 5-10A electricity) set on terraces beneath a 16th-century stone building housing reception, a comfortable bar, a good value restaurant and a small shop. The site is 1.5 km. from the nearest village, while the town of Berga with all facilities is 20 km. away.

Barcelona

Barcelona is the historical capital of Catalunyav and Spain’s second leading city in both size and importance, after Madrid. The beautiful city has an impressive architectural heritage that includes the Gothic Quarter, with its cathedral, the old City Hall Building, the Episcopal Palace and the splendid Palace of the Generalitat. The city also boasts the work of the incomparable modernist architect Antonio Gaudí.

Lleida

In the centre of the fertile plain of the River Segre sits Lleida, capital of the province of the same name. Prominent atop a hill in the historic quarter of the city is the old cathedral or Seu Vella.

Girona

The Costa Brava is the coastal zone that begins about 40 km. north of Barcelona and includes the entire shoreline of the province of Girona. It is an area of great natural beauty, formed by a succession of steep cliffs and small coves with finely grained sand. Some of its towns have been massively exploited for tourism but others, such as Tossa de Mar, still maintain their original size and fishing village charm.
