Camping del Mar
This site is in a rural location and great for the beach which is just across the road, 3km down the road is the town of Blanes with its shops, supermarkets and nightlife. There are 100 well-spaced pitches, these are not separated to any degree, but there are trees offering shade on most pitches; there are also a further 80 mobile homes/glamping units and tents available for rental. The site shop was well stocked, and the standard of food served in the restaurant was excellent, offering a lovely view over the modern pool complex.

Vilanova Park
Sitting on the terrace in front of the restaurant – a beautifully converted Catalan farmhouse dating from 1908 – it isn't easy to believe that in 1982, this was still a farm with few trees and known as Mas Roque (literally, Rock Farm). Since then, the imaginative planting of thousands of trees and gloriously colourful shrubs have made this large campsite most attractive. It has an impressive range of high-quality amenities and facilities open all year.

Cala Llevado is a beautifully situated and quiet (although popular), cliff-side site, enjoying fine views of the sea and coast below. It is shaped around a wooded valley with steep access roads and terracing. High up on the site, with a superb aspect, is the attractive restaurant/bar with a large terrace overlooking the pleasant swimming pool directly below. There are 612 terraced, level touring pitches (489 with 10/16A electricity) on the upper levels of the two slopes, with a great many individual pitches for tents scattered around the site. Many of these pitches have fantastic settings and views. In some areas cars may be required to park separately.
Taiga Bassegoda Park
Surrounded by mountains alongside the Muga river, Taiga Bassegoda Park is a place to experience Spain in a natural environment but with a touch of luxury. This totally rebuilt site is just beyond Albanyà on the edge of the Alta Garrotxa National Park in an area of great beauty. In their own area, the 58 touring pitches are level and shaded, all on hardstanding and with access to electricity, water and drainage. Tents are dotted informally in the terraced forest areas. Particular care has been taken in the landscaping, layout and design of the attractive pool, bar and restaurant, the hub of the site. Regional wines and dishes are available in the reasonably priced restaurant.

On-site, there are 70 spacious touring pitches with 13 Amp electric hookup points available. Pitches are approximately 70m2 in size and mostly separated from each other by trees, giving plenty of shade during the summer months and ample privacy between each pitch.
Camping Stel (Roda de Barà)
Camping Stel is situated between mountains and the sea with direct access to an excellent beach via a passage under the railway, which runs along the entire coast (so expect some rail noise, especially on the lower pitches). The 658 touring pitches are generally in rows separated by hedges, all have electricity (5A), 535 are fully serviced and many have individual sinks. In one area, radios and TVs are not allowed. The impressive central area contains a large bar/restaurant with terrace and snack bar overlooking the attractive pool complex, which includes a wonderful fun pool for children, a flume and a pleasant grass area carefully set out with palms.
Tamarit Beach Resort
This is a marvellous, beach-side site, attractively situated at the foot of the imposing Tamarit Castle at one end of a superb one-kilometre-long beach of fine sand. It is landscaped with lush Mediterranean shrubs, studded with pines and palms, and home to mischievous red squirrels. There are 425 good-sized pitches for touring, all with electricity (16A), 340 of which are fully serviced with water, drainage, TV connection and 16A electricity. Fifty very popular pitches are virtually on the beach. On hard sand and grass, some are attractively separated by hedging and shaded by trees.
Camping la Rueda
La Rueda is a pleasant Spanish beach site with 370 pitches, 350 for touring, 167 of these with electricity (4/6/10A). Some pitches are in a small pine wood. The circular central area has flat, grassy pitches set amongst mature trees with bamboo canopies providing extra shade; the final area has grassy pitches without electricity and with little shade. Through a gate at the far corner a road takes you, via a low bridge, under the railway to a long sandy beach. An elevated bar and snack bar serving simple, inexpensive fare overlooks the swimming pool. Below is a well stocked shop. The site is next to a railway line, so some noise is inevitable, but no trains run between midnight and 07.00.
Camping Lloret Blau
Lloret Blau can be found at the heart of the popular resort of Lloret de Mar, a ten minute walk from a fine sandy beach. There are over 200 pitches here, grassy with varying degrees of shade. All have electrical connections (5 or 10A). A ‘plot plus’ option is available (pitch with electricity, water and drainage). Most amenities are in the same general area, including a bar with terrace overlooking the pool, restaurant (with takeaway food), a well stocked shop and tourist information and an attractive outdoor swimming pool with a broad grassy sun terrace. There is a separate picnic area with benches nearer the entrance to the site.
wecamp Santa Cristina
With a chilled family-friendly vibe, wecamp Santa Cristina sits in a Mediterranean forest surrounded by tall pines and cork oaks. Despite its peaceful setting, this no-frills site’s surprisingly close to the action; should you have enough of lazing by the pool, you could be on a Costa Brava beach in less than 10 minutes.
Camping Verneda
This family run campsite in the Valle d’Aran, surrounded by the High Pyrenees, has at its centre a small cascading waterfall fed by two others outside the site. The pitches are grass and are mainly level, and sit at either side of the single access road as you enter over a small, narrow bridge, with the smaller pitches next to the river. The site is next to the Rio Garona, which can be a bit noisy, but it is a truly spectacular site.
Camping Huttopia Barcelona Pirineos
The short scenic drive through the mountains to reach this site is breathtakingly beautiful. This attractively terraced campsite next to the Cadi-Moixer Natural Park, is not far from the majestic Pedraforca mountain, and the area is a favourite for Catalan climbers and walkers. Access on the site is quite easy for large units, although the road from Guardiola de Berguedà is twisting. Of the 73 grass or gravel pitches, there are 40 for touring, all with 6A electricity. The campsite was recently acquired by Huttopia Group, and renovations are planned for 2024.
Alannia Els Prats
This Costa Daurada beach resort is in a prime location right on the beach, close to the Ebro Valley, not far from Tarragona and around 15 minutes drive from Port Aventura theme park. The site is popular with young people searching for watersports and a lively atmosphere and families looking for a varied programme of high-quality activities for children and adults alike.
Camping Els Pins
Only the access road separates this busy campsite from a sandy beach which stretches west for over five kilometres to the resort of Malgrat de Mar and beyond. Of the 219 pitches, around 50% are devoted to holiday homes with touring pitches occupying two distinct areas. The green zone is in the heart of the resort and pitches have electricity (6A), water, drainage and TV connections and there is some shade. The blue zone has direct access to the beach and is a very quiet area with plenty of sun and little shade; pitches here are smaller and just have electrical connections.

Barcelona

Barcelona is the historical capital of Catalunyav and Spain’s second leading city in both size and importance, after Madrid. The beautiful city has an impressive architectural heritage that includes the Gothic Quarter, with its cathedral, the old City Hall Building, the Episcopal Palace and the splendid Palace of the Generalitat. The city also boasts the work of the incomparable modernist architect Antonio Gaudí.

Lleida

In the centre of the fertile plain of the River Segre sits Lleida, capital of the province of the same name. Prominent atop a hill in the historic quarter of the city is the old cathedral or Seu Vella.

Girona

The Costa Brava is the coastal zone that begins about 40 km. north of Barcelona and includes the entire shoreline of the province of Girona. It is an area of great natural beauty, formed by a succession of steep cliffs and small coves with finely grained sand. Some of its towns have been massively exploited for tourism but others, such as Tossa de Mar, still maintain their original size and fishing village charm.
