East Fleet Farm has a marvellous situation on part level, part gently sloping meadows leading to the shores of the Fleet, with views across to the famous Chesil Bank with the sea beyond. The Whitfield family has developed this park within the confines of their 300-acre organic arable farm in keeping with its surroundings, yet with modern amenities. It is maturing well as bushes and trees grow.
This popular club site is visited year after year by many due to its ideal location for exploring the Dorset Jurassic coast and the Isle of Purbeck. As with all CAMC sites you expect high standards and here you will not be disappointed. With a total of 55 pitches, all with 16 amp electricity, 39 are level hardstanding and 16 on grass. The central sanitary block, motorhome service point and two service areas offer everything you will need. Harmans Cross station is just a short walk offering steam trains to Corfe Castle or Swanage. With great views down the valley towards the coast this site is ideal for visiting everything the area has to offer; from the Tank museum in Bovington to the beaches in Swanage and even Monkey World. Ideal for walking and cycling or just a quiet rest. There are numerous public footpaths and coastal walks near the site for walking enthusiasts, and if you are a beach lover you will be a short distance from the sandy beaches of Swanage or the glorious stretch of golden sands at Studland Bay.
Merley Court is part of the Shorefield Group and all aspects of this well planned, attractively landscaped park are constantly maintained to the highest of standards. Tarmac roads connect 162 touring pitches, all of which have 16A electricity, on neat lawns or one of the many hardstandings. This provision includes 19 serviced pitches with water, waste disposal and satellite TV. The entire park is interspersed with a variety of shrubs, plants and the odd ornamental urn. Twelve lodges, seven with hot tubs, are located in a wooded valley. A well furnished club complex provides a lounge bar where meals are available.
Escape to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the site includes part of the World Heritage Coastline, famous for its scenic beauty. The site itself is an open, partially sloping field surrounded by farmland with great views to the sea and Clavell Tower on one side and the Purbeck Hills on the other. Kimmeridge Bay, which is also part of the Smedmore Estate, is famous for fossils, fascinating geological strata and ecologically diverse rock pools. The site has 40 grass/hardstanding pitches (some seasonal) all with electric hook-up. Please note this site does not have a toilet block.
Wilksworth Caravan Park is a spacious, quiet park well-suited for families, with a heated outdoor pool designed in a beautiful Spanish style. The rural situation is lovely, just outside Wimborne and around 12 miles from the beaches between Poole and Bournemouth.
Hunter's Moon Caravan and Motorhome Club site lies just on the edge of the lovely Wareham Forest. This pleasant site, with play area and dog walk, provides an excellent base for touring the lovely area of Dorset. Many of the area's most attractive locations are safeguarded by the National Trust, including substantial stretches of unforgettable scenic coastline. It is rich in combes, cliffs, bays and islands - particularly rewarding for the visitor interested in bird life and walking. The nearby Golden Cap, of which the National Trust owns, 2,000 acres of hills, farmlands and beaches, has the highest cliff in England and delights with its covering of brilliant yellow gorse. The site has 141 grass or hardstanding pitches, 8 of which are serviced and 11 for tents. All but 2 have 16 amp electricity.
Wood Farm is an excellent, family run park, maintained to high standards on terraced, well landscaped ground with rural views across the Marshwood Vale. With an indoor heated pool, tennis court, fishing lakes and a good café open all day, it is well worth a visit. All 149 pitches for touring units have hardstanding and 10 amp electricity, while 57 also have water and waste water. The ground slopes, so most pitches are terraced with some divided by distinctive, box-like leylandii hedging. Around 80 privately owned caravan holiday homes are in separate areas at the bottom of the site whilst 3 are available to let as is a self contained apartment.
Crossways Caravan and Motorhome Club site is an imaginatively landscaped destination set in the midst of 35 acres of lush woodland - ideal when touring in Dorset. Pitching is available in open groves, all of which are linked by a scenic snaking road. This makes for easy access around the site, from the charmingly named Iron Horse Meadows to Poachers Paradise. The railway is a five-minute walk away. The site has 98 mainly grass pitches, some are seasonal. There are also 4 tent pitches and all have electricity 16amp. The site is an imaginatively landscaped destination set in the midst of 35 acres Pitching is available in open groves, all of which are linked by a scenic snaking road. If you want to leave the car behind for an excursion or if you're simply a rail enthusiast, the railway is a five minute walk away. There is a pleasant pub adjacent serving good food. The site is within convenient reach of a wealth of interesting attractions at the nearby town of Weymouth.
Golden Cap, named after the adjacent high cliff (the highest in southern England) which overlooks Lyme Bay, is only 150 m. from a shingle beach at Seatown and is surrounded by National Trust countryside and the Heritage Coastline. The park is arranged over several fields on the valley floor, sloping gently down towards the sea. It is in two main areas, having once been two parks, each separated into fields with marvellous panoramic views and providing 108 touring pitches. All have electricity and 30 also have hardstanding with drainage and gravel awning area. An extra sloping tent area with 159 pitches is used for peak season (torch useful), although it is a five minute walk from here to the toilet blocks and shop.
Conveniently situated close to the World-Famous Jurassic Coast, The Dorset Hideaway is an excellent site on a former working dairy farm. The emphasis is on luxury and tranquillity within a rural area. Each pitch has uninterrupted views over open unspoilt countryside, most with parking next to the pitch. The site has 118 grass or hardstanding pitches. most with electric hook-up and some seasonal. There are also domes, yurts & bell tents to hire.
This very lively and busy Haven holiday park has 1,000 pitches, the majority taken by privately owned caravan holiday homes and 350 units to rent. This leaves just 27 for touring units. These flat pitches all have electricity, hardstanding and a grass area for awnings. One of the main attractions at Rockley Park is the sheltered beach which provides watersports and views of the beautiful harbour at Poole. Touring guests may use all the amenities on the park, including swimming pools and sports facilities. There is much evening entertainment in the bars and a variety of activity clubs for children of all ages.
Seaview is a real family park in a rural situation in an area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’, yet only 2.5 miles from the busy family resort of Weymouth with its marvellous sandy beach. There are 340 pitches with 87 for touring units, the remainder taken by the hire fleet of mobile homes and some safari tents (new for the 2015 season). Most of the touring pitches are on grass with electricity, a few have water taps and reinforced bases. There is only one shower block which may well struggle to meet needs in high season, although it is constantly cleaned. Heated indoor and outdoor pools and a very wide range of amenities, entertainment and activities ensure this Haven Park is a very popular holiday venue.
Newlands is well situated on the Jurassic Coast, the first natural World Heritage site in England. A family owned park, it is run with care and enthusiasm by Jackie and Rex Ireland and their daughter, Natalie. It occupies a prominent position beside the road into Charmouth village with rural views southwards to the hills across the valley. The terrain is terraced in two fields to provide over 200 well spaced places for touring units, some for seasonal units and over 80 for caravan holiday homes (36 for hire). The mainly sloping tent field, with some terracing, also has super views towards the sea and Lyme Regis. Electricity (10A) is provided on 160 pitches and 30 have hardstanding, water and drainage.
Nestling under the Purbeck Hills on the edge of Swanage, in the Dorset and East Devon Coast World Heritage Site, Ulwell Cottage is a family run holiday park with an indoor pool and a wide range of facilities. A good proportion of the park is taken by caravan holiday homes (140), but an attractive, undulating area accessed by tarmac roads is given over to 79 numbered touring pitches interspersed with trees and shrubs. All have 10A electricity, 12 are fully serviced and 14 are available with hardstanding. The colourful entrance area is home to the Village Inn with a courtyard adjoining the heated, supervised indoor pool complex (both open all year and open to the public; limited pool supervision in winter months) and the modern reception.
On slightly sloping ground with superb open views, both coastal and inland, Highlands End is quietly situated on the Dorset Heritage Coastline. A path in front of the park runs along the cliff top and then leads down to a shingle beach a little further along. It is a good quality park with 180 caravan holiday homes, mostly privately owned, and 195 touring pitches in two areas nearest to the sea – one has to travel through the holiday homes to reach them. The field for tents has 73 pitches, ten with electricity, and the field for touring is all electric with 45 pitches, also having water, drainage and hardstanding.
Verwood, New Forest Camping & Caravanning Club site is ideal for visits to Poole, Bournemouth. The seaside resorts of the south coast and the beautiful New Forest are all within easy reach of the site. Situated around seven miles west of the New Forest, Verwood offers a tranquil setting. You will not be short of things to do from this site. If you plan to explore the New Forest, head to Lyndhurst and the New Forest Centre and Museum. Two miles from here is the New Forest Reptile Centre, where you can see all of Britain’s reptiles in one place. The forest more than caters for walkers and cyclists with miles of way-marked tracks. Garden games can be played on the site’s front lawn. Crane Valley Golf Club offers green fee discounts by voucher during your stay. The site has 140 grass or hardstanding pitches (some seasonal). Most have an electric hook-up point. There are also 10 Safari tents for hire.
Nestling in the lush West Dorset countryside, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Graston Copse Holiday Park is a perfect choice for walkers, cyclists, couples, families and even budding geologists - it is within easy walking distance of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Twenty-five of the 38 grass pitches are for touring units and all have electricity hook-ups. They are set in some three acres of well maintained and landscaped grounds, with some shade from mature trees at the edge. The River Bridge runs alongside the site, and a pleasant walk along its banks brings you to the charming village of Burton Bradstock with its 16th- and 17th-century thatched cottages and two great pubs serving food.
Harrow Wood Farm Caravan Park is a small family park, set in 80 acres of farmland in the village of Bransgore, just within the New Forest National Park. It has 63 hardstanding pitches for tourers, all with 10A electricity. They are not hedged and have little shade. The on-site coarse fishing lake is free to residents, and has a one mile circular walk. Harrow Wood is an ideal base for camping and caravanning in the New Forest, and a local bus service runs to the local towns of Christchurch, Ringwood and Lymington.
Sandford Park is an ‘all singing, all dancing’ park with a wide range of facilities, close to the popular coastal areas of Dorset. It has a large permanent section with caravan holiday homes and lodges. However, the touring section is in an attractive secluded area and can accommodate around 354 units of any type. The pitches are mainly on level grass, either with mature evergreen hedging, or in a more open style area broken up by shrubs. All have 10A electricity connections and 13 are fully serviced. Early booking is advisable.
Meadowbank Holidays is a quiet, traditional park with caravan holiday homes and a small provision for touring units. The grass flood bank which separates the River Stour from this park provides an attractive pathway. The river bank has been kept natural and is well populated by a range of water birds. It is popular with bird watchers and there is fishing in the river. There are just under 200 caravan holiday homes (75 for hire), sited in regular rows. For touring units there are 41 level pitches (21 fully serviced and with hardstanding), all clearly numbered with 10A electricity, backing on to fencing or hedging and accessed by tarmac roads.
