Useful Camping Information

What accomodation do campsites accept?

Campsites accept a wide variety of mobile, pitch-based, and pre-installed or structural accommodations depending on the site's facilities, licensing, and layout.

•    Traditional Tents: Standard ground tents (backpacking, family, and large multi-room tents) on grass or hardstanding pitches, with or without electric hook-ups.
•    Vehicular Units: Motorhomes, campervans, conversion vans, and caravan trailers, typically utilizing dedicated hardstanding or grass pitches with chemical waste disposal and electric hook-up points.
•    Roof-Tent & Specialized Setups: Rooftop tents mounted on 4x4s or cars, as well as tailgate and hitch tents attached directly to vehicles.
•    Pre-Erected / Ready-Made Glamping: Bell tents, safari tents, tipis, and pod structures provided directly by the campsite.
•    Fixed Structures (on mixed-use sites): Camping pods, shepherd's huts, yurts, wooden cabins, and occasionally camping barns or static caravans.

How To Guides

What electrical adaptors or connections do I need for European campsites?

Most European sites use standard CEE 3-pin blue plugs, but some older or rural European sites still require a 2-pin Euro adapter. We recommend carrying a reverse-polarity adaptor as well.

Are your campsites suitable for American Motorhomes or Twin Axle Caravans?

Pitch suitability varies depending on campsite. Our campsite listings specify maximum vehicle lengths, weight limits, electric hook-up amperages, and "last mile" driving directions to prevent tight squeeze surprises upon arrival. If it is not clear on the listing, contact the campsite directly.

Do I need low-emission zone permits or toll tags when driving in Europe?

Certain countries (such as France with Crit'Air stickers or Germany with Environmental Badges) require specific emission stickers. Toll badges (like Emovis or Bip&Go) are recommended for seamless motorway travel.  Please visit local government and tourism board websites for up to date travel information before departing to your destination.

How can I find out the latest Tourist tax information?

Consult official government portals and the Official Tourism Portal for European Trips to review up-to-date entry regulations, border controls, and local regional guidance before departing for Europe.
