AZUR Camping Regensburg is a campsite situated directly on the banks of the Danube River, only 3.5 kilometres outside Regensburg city centre. Weihersee Campsite offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Bavaria within the picturesque Steigerwald Nature Park. As its name implies, the campsite is situated on the shores of the serene Weihersee lake. The campsite features a terraced layout with 138 spacious touring pitches with 16Amp electric hook-up points available. Gravel paths separate pitches, and a variety of trees and bushes provide a sense of privacy. For those seeking a unique experience, the campsite offers special rental accommodations known as wine barrels.
Knaus Campingpark Nürnberg is an ideal site for visiting the fascinating and historically important city of Nürnberg (Nuremberg). The site is 500 meters from the Grundig Stadium and 600 meters from the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. There are 140 shaded pitches, 118 with 10A electrical connections and with water taps in groups. On mainly flat grass among the tall trees, some pitches are marked out with ranch-style boards, others still attractively ‘wild’, some others with hardstanding. There is sufficient space for them to be quite big, and many have the advantage of being drive-through. When there is an event at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, there can be a lot of noise, and road diversions are in place. It is well worth checking before planning an arrival.
Camping Paradies Franken is an impeccably maintained campsite offers a serene escape for nature lovers seeking tranquillity. The friendly reception in a charming grey-blue building with a red slate roof provides local tourist information. Enjoy camping in a green oasis where peace reigns supreme. On-site, there are 137 touring pitches available with 16 Amp electric hook-up points. While the campsite boasts vast open lawns, shade is limited due to the low-growing shrubs. To preserve this natural beauty, groundsheets are discouraged. For those seeking comfort, two quaint cabins with arched awnings are available.
Camping-Park Viechtach, although reached via a small industrial area, is a relaxing place at which to stay, well laid out in a woodland setting on the edge of the village. The various trees and shrubs give a garden effect and there is good shade in most parts. A tarmac road winds its way between the grass pitches (most terraced) which are separated by rocks and trees and marked by plaques.
Camping Drei Gleichen is in the hills of Thuringia, you choose your own pitch on this well-kept site. Sit down by a crackling campfire with a bratwurst in a bun. The swimming pool in Gotha is ideal if you need to cool off. A hike in the mountains could take you to Gleichen Castle. From this castle there is a magnificent view. The electricity generated at the site is completely sustainable. Camping Drei Gleichen is a child-friendly site, but you don't have to be afraid of exuberant animation teams. Luckily, there are plenty of great playgrounds for children on the grounds. Enjoy the sunset together by the crackling campfire. This is quite possible in front of the stone fire basket. The site has 187 pitches of which 150 grass ones are for touring units and have 16-amp hook-up point. There are also 7 cabins available to hire.
This family-run site is small, attractive and well organised. On the left of the entrance courtyard, the small Schloss (c.1398) houses reception, a display of armour, a comfortable breakfast room and a restaurant serving regional and international dishes. Homemade cakes and drinks are served on the small terrace in front of the Schloss.
This is a large site, near the Main river to the west of Würzburg, the home of Franconian wine. With some 150 pitches for touring (out of 350) the site provides good facilities in a quiet and peaceful location. It is a good spot for walks and cycle rides around the local vineyards and along the banks of the Main. All pitches have electricity (6-10A) and 65 super pitches provide electricity, water, and drainage. The site is very busy in the high season and, as you would expect, provides a variety of entertainment for young and old. Helpful reception staff speak English.
This pleasant campsite is located on the banks of the river Regnitz in the Bavarian region of Germany. The pitches are spacious and delimited with a good range of shade provided by the beautiful old trees growing around the campsite. There is a good quality restaurant on site providing Franconia specialties and a pleasant beer garden where you can enjoy a local Bamberg Beer. There are various cycle routes on site with bikes available to hire and you can swim nearby in the river. Children have a large playground on site and there is a table tennis table for use.
Camping Frankenhöhe is near Schillingsfürst, Bavaria, in one of the most beautiful regions of Franconia. The historic Schillingsfürst in front of your eyes, from the motorhome/caravan on foot to the natural swimming pool and on the Romantic Road, close to the former imperial cities of Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Dinkelsbühl. Equally idyllic and conveniently located, the site is in the middle of the forests of the Frankenhöhe Nature Park. All around, there are hiking, jogging and cycling trails. Experience the Franconian joie de vivre, relaxing tranquillity and hospitable conviviality. Spend a quiet and relaxing holiday here. There are hiking trails all around, which also invite you to jog and cycle. The DSV Nordic Walking Centre offers courses such as golf, tennis, cross-country skiing and much more. On the Radschmetterling, the region can be easily explored by bike and bicycles can be rented at the site for a small fee. The all-year site has a total of 125 pitches of which 60 grass ones are for touring units and have 16-amp hook-up point.
In the heart of the Franconian wine region and just five kilometres from the A7/E455, Estenfeld has been family owned and managed since it opened in 1953. It is only seven kilometres to the university city of Würzburg, which has a wealth of attractions. The site’s 50 grass pitches are all for tourers and have electricity hook-ups (16A, 40 Europlugs). There are eight special pitches for motorhomes and groups are accommodated in a separate area. A bike would be a real asset here as there are miles of scenic cycling routes through the vineyards and villages.
Situated 4 km. west of the town of Gemünden, with views of forested hills bordering the Main river, this is a very friendly, well-organised, family-run site with excellent facilities. Frau Endres welcomes British guests and speaks a little English. There are 100 pitches, 70 of which are for touring. They vary in size (70-150 sq.m), and all have 10A electricity and 20 with water. Another area has been developed for tents.
Natur-Camping Pappenheim, Bavaria is in the Altmühltal Nature Park, directly on the banks of the Altmühl River. Pets are allowed and swimming is possible both in the natural river pool on site and in the outdoor pool, which is a 10-minute walk away. The old town of Pappenheim is a 5-minute walk away, and Pappenheim Castle is a 10-minute walk away. In the vicinity there are interesting excursion destinations, such as Solnhofen with its fossil collection (5 km), the thermal baths in Treuchtlingen (7 km) or the cathedral city of Eichstätt (20 km). This is a very nice and quiet place, not overcrowded like so many in the Altmühltal. The individual pitches are quite generous. The area is worth seeing and easy to explore on foot or even better by bike. The site has 100 grass/hardstanding pitches of which 75 are for touring units with 16-amp hook-up point.
Camping Kreuzberg is in the middle of an extensive biosphere reserve, one of only 600 in the world. This open all year-round site is located at the foot of the 930 m high Kreuzberg. The Rhön, with its mineral springs, moors, forests, hills and romantic valleys, is an ideal recreation area for all hiking enthusiasts. With well-maintained hiking trails and cycle paths. Winter sports enthusiasts will find ideal conditions as there are numerous well-developed ski regions in the immediate vicinity. The site is situated in the middle of a slightly sloping meadow area. For the active holidaymaker, there are many possibilities here: A visit to the famous Kreuzberg Monastery with its home-brewed beer. Gliding and hang-gliding or the toboggan arena on the Wasserkuppe. The adventure pool "Sinnflut" in Bad Brückenau. and Excursions with horses at the Kalinenhof. The site has 120 pitches 50 of which are for touring units and have 16-amp hook-up point. There are also 2 caravans available to rent.
Run by the German Camping Club (DCC), this is a modern site, very close to one of Germany’s best known medieval towns, from which visits can be made to other places on the Romantic Road. There are 460 pitches (half of which are for touring and most with a gentle slope) on broad grassy terraces overlooking a small lake, with a separate area for tents by the water. All are numbered and of about 80 sq.m. with 10A electricity. A special area is kept for overnight stays. The lake can be used for bathing or your own non-powered boat.
