Camping Kindervreugde
Kindervreugde is a small, simple site, just 500 m. from the Plopsaland theme park, and 2 km. from the beach at De Panne. Being close to the French border, it is also convenient for the ferry ports at Calais and Dunkirk. The three-hectare site has 40 large (100sqm) level grass pitches with water, drainage and 6A electricity, with a choice of shade or open aspect.
Recreatiepark Klein Strand
In a convenient location just off the A10 motorway and close to Bruges, this site is in two distinct areas divided by an access road. The main part of the site offers a lake with a marked off swimming area, a sandy beach, water slides and boating (no fishing). The touring section has 137 large pitches on flat grass separated by well trimmed hedges; all have electricity and access to water and drainage. Some leisure facilities for children are provided on this part of the site, along with a spacious bar and snack bar with takeaway (seasonal). The main site with all the privately owned mobile homes is closer to the lake, so has most of the amenities. These include the main reception building, restaurants, bar, minimarket, and sports facilities.
Camping Ypra
This is a basic, rural site less than a kilometre walk from a pretty Flemish village with a tourist information office, cafés, bars and shops. The site extends up the slopes of Kemmelberg, the highest point in West Flanders. The 230 seasonal pitches are on the upper part of the site, while 50 grass touring pitches are by the site entrance on firm, level ground. There are an additional 20 hardstandings for motorhomes and a separate tent field. All the pitches have 6A electric hook-up available. Cabins and pods are available for hire. English, Dutch, French and German are spoken.
Camping Kerlinga
This friendly site can be found in Bredene-aan-Zee and has direct access via a pedestrian bridge to high dunes and a fine sandy beach (300 m). It is convenient for trips to the World Heritage city of Bruges and the Belgian theme parks of Plopsaland and Bellewaerde. A bar/snack bar is at the front of the site, and there is also a large sports field, with some good play areas and entertainment for children in summer. Pitches are of a good size (minimum 80 sq.m) and all have 10A electrical connections, as well as water and drainage.
R.A.C.B. Camp
Owned by the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium, this site is situated within the village of Westende, and a 15-minute walk will bring you to the seafront promenade. Several shops and restaurants are within easy reach. Only around 40 touring pitches are dotted among the 300 pitches occupied by seasonal units. All are level and have 10A electricity, but little shade.
Camping Warande
Bredene-aan-Zee is a small resort close to Ostend. Camping Warande has mainly seasonal accommodation and is located to the east of the town and nearby naturist beach. There are 260 pitches, 50 for touring units which are grassy and generally without shade. All pitches have 10A electricity, water, drainage and cable TV connections. On-site amenities include a well stocked supermarket and two play areas for children. The principal toilet block is centrally located a small charge is made for hot showers. Bredene is famous for its long, sandy beach and renowned water quality. The site offers easy access to the town’s amenities and has two children’s play areas. Around Bredene there are miles of cycle tracks through the timeless countryside of the polders.
Camping Astrid
Camping Astrid is located on the Belgian coast and is owned and managed by the De Coster family. The site is ideal for families, with all the facilities you would expect to help you enjoy a relaxed holiday. There are around 130 pitches, with full facilities for both the summer and winter holidays, though many of these are given over to mobile accommodation or seasonal units. There are also a number of mobile homes available to rent.
Urban Gardens Leper
Lying on the southern fringe of medieval Ypres, this is a convenient spot from which to explore the town's history, inextricably linked to the Great War, perhaps starting at the elegant central square with its Cloth Hall, largely rebuilt after 1918, and the moving In Flanders Fields Museum. A footpath leads you straight into the town.
Camping De Lombarde
De Lombarde is a spacious, good value holiday site between Lombardsijde and the coast. It has a pleasant atmosphere and modern buildings. The 380 pitches are set out in level, grassy bays surrounded by shrubs, all with 16A electricity, long leads may be needed. Vehicles are parked in separate car parks. There are many seasonal units and 21 holiday homes, leaving 173 touring pitches. There is a range of activities and an entertainment programme in season. This is a popular holiday area and the site becomes full at peak times. A pleasant stroll of one kilometre takes you into Lombardsijde. There is a tram service from near the site entrance to the town and the beach.
Kompas Nieuwpoort
Not far from Dunkerque and Calais and convenient for the A18 motorway, this large, well equipped and well run site with 1056 pitches caters particularly for families. There are many amenities including a heated pool complex, a range of sporting activities, play areas and a children’s farm. The 469 touring pitches, all with 10A electricity, are in regular rows on flat grass in various parts of the site; 120 also have a water point and waste water drainage. With many seasonal units and caravan holiday homes, the site becomes full during Belgian holidays and in July and August.
Camping Ter Duinen
Ter Duinen is a large, seaside holiday site with 120 touring pitches and over 700 privately owned static holiday caravans. The pitches are laid out in straight lines with tarmac access roads, and the site has three toilet blocks with token-operated showers. Other than a bar, small shop, playground and a playing field, the site has few other facilities, but it is only a 600 m. walk to the sea, and next door to the site is a large sports complex with a sub-tropical pool and several sporting facilities. Opportunities for riding and hiring bikes are close by.
Park De Vuurtoren
Camping Park de Vuurtoren (lighthouse in Flemish) is close to Knokke-Heist and extends over six hectares. The site is just 1200 m. from a broad, sandy, North Sea beach, accessed through an attractive park. There are 350 pitches here, but just 11 for touring. These are of a good size (80-100 sq.m), all with 16A electricity, and are equipped with cable TV connections. Water supply points are rather basic. A number of comfortable chalets are available to rent. There is a playground for children, and other amenities include a bar with TV and billiards, and a café serving snacks and ice creams.
Camping Memling
This traditional site is ideal for visiting Brugge (or Bruges). The 120 marked pitches (80 for touring caravans, 20 hard standing) are on level grass, with gravel roads and trees and hedges providing some shade. Electricity (10A) is available to all pitches. There is a separate area for 40 small, two-person tents. Bars, restaurants, local shops and supermarkets are within walking distance. Brugge itself has a network of cycleways, and for those on foot, a bus stops near the campsite and runs into the centre. Reservation from May to September is recommended. Visitors with large units should always telephone in advance to ensure an adequate pitch.
Camping Bonanza 1
Camping Bonanza 1 is a modern, family site within walking distance of a good beach and close to the centre of the important resort of Blankenberge, home to Belgium’s only sea pier. Pitches here are grassy and are generally without shade. All have 10A electrical connections. A separate area for tents is available at the rear of the site. The centrally located toilet blocks are well maintained (a small charge is made for hot showers). On-site amenities include the friendly Azura bar/bistro, with a terrace overlooking the well-appointed playground for children.
Kompas Camping Westende
Set about 20 km up the coast from Dunkirk, Kompas Camping Westende is a large holiday site near the sea. The vast sandy beach is only a short walk away, and there is easy access to the coastal tram service. Of the 435 pitches, half are taken by seasonal caravans plus 43 rental units, leaving some 100 touring pitches on grass with 10A electricity, plus a group of 77 large (150 sq.m) serviced pitches with water and electricity.

West Flanders

Belgium’s only coastal province with 67 km. of coastline. In the west, the River IJzer meets the sea at Nieuwpoort, while the north is characterised by its flat polders and to the south lie the West Flemish hills.

Farming, fishing and bustling city centres; sea, hills and forest; industry and handicrafts, art and religion, gastronomy and provincial dishes – all are found in abundance in the land of contrasts that is the Westhoek region. The popular seaside town of De Panne is a coastal gem; its beach is the widest on the Flemish Coast and its many attractions are a magnet for visitors in high season. The region of the Leie marries a fascinating industrial heritage with contemporary living. Whether you prefer to cycle or walk, you can look forward to a world of discovery.

Oostende is a cosmopolitan city with a rich past where you can shop to your heart’s content. It boasts a harbour and marina, an international airport, numerous hotels, a casino and busy nightlife. Sights include the Earth Explorer science theme park, three-mast sailing ship, Mercator, Fort Napoleon, the Japanese Garden and James Ensor House. Bruges, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, was classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Centre in 2000. As you weave your way along winding alleys and over romantic canals, it isn’t difficult to imagine yourself here in medieval times.

Koekelare: the Fransmansmuseum about Belgian seasonal workers in France, and the Käthe Kollwitz gallery. 

Het Zwin, Knokke-Heist: bird and nature reserve with unaccompanied or guided walks in the salt marshes.

The River Leie: 150 km. of navigable waterways meandering between Northern France and Gent, perfect for a cruise or a shorter trip by hired craft.

Castle of Loppem: neo-gothic monument with original architecture and interiors, features a rich art collection, a romantic park and a labyrinth.

Kortrijk: many monuments and historic buildings, including World Heritage Sites the Belfort and the Begijnhof; museums, parks, gardens and modern architecture

Attractions

Boudewijn Seapark: zoo, dolphinarium and amusement park; seals, sea lions and birds of prey will keep you entertained.

Museum Constant Permeke, Jabbeke: more than 150 works by the great Flemish expressionist.

Butterfly Garden, Knokke-Zoute: 350 specimens of 35 different species of tropical butterflies exhibited in their various life stages.
