Ma Prairie is an excellent site, and its place in this guide goes back over 30 years to when it was simply a field surrounded by vineyards. The trees planted then have matured and are home to mischievous red squirrels. More trees, along with colourful shrubs, continue to be planted, providing a comfortable, park-like setting with 208 touring pitches, 197 with 10A electricity and 15 with water and drainage. There are also 50 mobile homes available to rent and 10 privately owned.

It is a peaceful haven, some 3 km. back from the sea but within walking distance of Canet village itself. The restaurant and bar are across the road and overlook a modern, attractive pool complex and a wonderful old palm tree. You will also find the sports complex and gym here.

Some mobile homes and modern housing have crept up, but there are still vineyards close by, and the wine sold in reception is from the family vineyard.

Facilities at Camping Ma Prairie

Fully equipped toilet blocks with accessible facilities, baby bath. Washing machines and dryers. There is no shop, but the baker calls every morning June-Sept. Covered snack bar and takeaway. Air-conditioned bar and restaurant. Large heated swimming pool, separate water chute and splendid children’s pool (Seasonal). Multisports court. Gym. TV. Amusement machines. Busy daily activity and entertainment programme in season for children aged 6-12. WiFi over site (Charged). Bicycle hire. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. Several small communal barbecue areas. Tourist train stops at the site (April-June and Sept).

Directions to Camping Ma Prairie

Leave autoroute A9 at Perpignan North towards Barcarès. Exit the D11 Perpignan road (exit 5). Turn left at junction in direction of St Nazaire. Go under bridge, take first turning right at roundabout then left off small roundabout. Site on left (signed).
