Alan Rogers Review

This well-shaded, pretty site is run by Sue and George Thomas, who have owned the site since 1999 . At the entrance to the site, a trout lake with graceful weeping willows feeds under the restored mill house, which is home to the owners as well as housing the bar and restaurant. Children will need supervision around the lake and at the pool, which is on an elevated area above the mill house. The 46 large-sized pitches are mostly divided by hedges, with electricity (6A, long leads may be necessary in places, but can be borrowed free of charge).

A cheery welcome awaits you, along with a determination to ensure that you enjoy your stay. All campers are provided with a folder on arrival that contains useful information about the site and the surrounding area. The owners are keen cyclists and hikers; they will willingly share their knowledge with you. Maps of walks are available in the bar. The site is next to a large forest where deer and boar roam freely. The area has many bastide towns or fortified villages dating back to the twelfth century. Many of the towns have markets, perhaps the best being at Nerac on Saturday mornings. Enjoy the fare produced by Sue on the lakeside terrace as the trout jump in the fishing lake (fresh trout is a menu option). The small river continues through both sides of the site. Library of French and English books.
