A pleasant, well-maintained site, la Citadelle’s best feature is probably that it is within walking distance of Loches, noted for its perfect architecture and its glorious history, yet at the same time, the site has a rural atmosphere.

The 92 standard touring pitches are all level, good-sized, and have 10A electricity. Numerous trees offer varying degrees of shade. The 30 larger serviced pitches have 16A electricity but little shade, and six luxury pitches have all facilities, including furniture, fridge and barbecue. Mobile homes (27 for hire) occupy the other 47 pitches. Loches, with its château and dungeons, is a gentle 500 m. walk along the river.

A free bus/little train runs from the campsite to the centre of Loches during the summer. An excellent spa centre and the municipal tennis courts are adjacent to the site and there are many activities organised during July and August. Eleven overnight pitches are available so that campers are not disturbed.

Facilities at Camping la Citadelle

Three sanitary blocks provide mainly British-style WCs, washbasins (mostly in cabins) and controllable showers. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Two baby units and accessible facilities, . Heated swimming pool (May-Sept). Paddling pool and play area (adult supervision strongly recommended). Small bar and snack bar (July/Aug; bread can be ordered at reception). Boules. Volleyball. Games room. Miniclub (July/Aug). Internet access and TV. WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Camping la Citadelle

Loches is 45 km. southeast of Tours. Site is well signed from most directions. Do not enter town centre. Approach from roundabout by supermarket at southern end of bypass (D943). Site signed towards town centre and is on right in 800 m.
