At the heart of the Auvergne, only 35 km to the South of Clermont-Ferrand and 12 km from Besse St. Anastaise, the friendly Pommier family have put much care into the spacious la Ribeyre campsite. This unique 5-star campsite offers around 450 level, grassy pitches, of which around 200 are for tourers and 108 of these have electricity (6/10A). Electricity, water and drainage are available on a number of pitches. They also offer a wide range of mobile homes for rent. A superb large indoor/outdoor water park includes slides, toboggan and lazy river. A small man-made lake at one end of the campsite provides facilities for water sports. It is a great base for touring being only 1 km. from Murol, dominated by its ancient château, 6 km. from Saint Nectaire and about 20 km. from Le Mont Dore and Puy-de-Sancy, the highest peak in the area.

There is a picturesque bar/reception area with a fountain and prize-winning floral decorations. Many young trees have been planted to add to those already established and there are fantastic views over the wooded mountains and of Château Murol. The overall impression is that of an immaculate park. The surrounding area has some superb scenery, from mountains rising to over 6,000 ft. to steep valleys, lakes and caverns. This site is a wonderful area for walking and cycling. Visit in May or June for fields of beautiful wild flowers and in September for the autumn colours.

Five sanitary blocks are equipped with showers, private washing cubicles and facilities for babies. Accessible facilities, Washing machines and dryers. Bar. Snack bar. Large indoor/outdoor water park (heated July/Aug). TV. Games room. Tennis. Fishing. Lake swimming and canoeing. Many organised activities in high season. children's club (from 6 to 12 years) free in high season. WiFi (charged).

Location

Site is 40 km. southwest of Clermont-Ferrand. From A75 autoroute, exit 6 signed St Nectaire. Take D978 signed St Nectaire & Murol, then D996 to Murol. Turn left up hill, D5, turn right immediately after tourist office car park onto D618, site signed. Site is second campsite on left.
