The small village of Bignac is set in peaceful countryside not too far from the N10 road, north of Angoulême. This mature, British owned site is arranged alongside an attractive lake. Mature trees fringe the lake which is home to some impressive fish, including carp (fishing is free for guests). In the camping area, the trees are arranged formally to mark 83 touring pitches and three for mobile homes to rent. The pitches are level and offer a mixture of shade with a minimum size of 100 sq.m. Most have 3/6A electricity (long leads may be required). This site is popular and is a peaceful, relaxing location for couples or young families.

There is a bar and restaurant with tables outside and views across the lake. A convivial, family atmosphere at this site extends through the entertainment which is arranged in high season. The lake shores are home to many birds. There is much of historical interest within easy reach and the owners have prepared maps of suitable walks, cycle rides and visits which may be found at reception.

Two traditional style toilet blocks have functional, recently refurbished facilities, including accessible facilities. Washing machine. Bar and restaurant (April-Oct). Small shop (1/3-30/10). Swimming pool (July-Aug, unsupervised). Football, badminton, tennis, boules and fishing, all free. Library. Play area. Pets’ corner. Entertainment in high season. A torch may be useful. Free WiFi at reception and the bar.

Directions to Camping du Lac de Bignac

From N10 south of Poitiers, 14 km. north of Angoulême, take D11 west to Vars and Basse. Turn right onto D117 to Bignac. Follow fairly narrow country roads as site is signed at several junctions and in village (Camping Bignac).
