Situated as it is, on the northern outskirts and within easy reach of the city of Edinburgh, this large, busy Caravan and Motorhome Club site provides an ideal base for touring. The site is only a stone’s throw away from the waterfront where visitors can walk along the promenade of Cramond and, only a short drive away, visitors can enjoy the popular coastal suburb of Portobello with its pubs, restaurants and shops. The nearest hotel/restaurant is under a mile away, and the Firth of Forth bridge about two miles.
Linwater Caravan Park is a peaceful, family run park situated on farmland close to Edinburgh. They offer a variety of accomodation including 60 large pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents (a mixture of grass and hardstanding including 44 with 16A electricity connections); plus glamping units known as timber tents and a luxury self catering lodge. The site has an immaculately presented amenities block with toilets; privacy cublicles with wash basins; shower facilities; laundry and dish washing facilities as well as a diabled toilet and baby changing area. There is a chemical waste disposal area which is also suitable for drive over disposals of motorhomes. The site has a shop which sells the basics just in case you have forgotten anything, and new for 2017 is a playpark for the kids to enjoy.
Mortonhall Park makes a good base to see the historic city of Edinburgh and buses to the city leave from the park entrance every ten minutes (parking in Edinburgh is not easy). Although only four miles from the city centre, Mortonhall is in quiet mature parkland, in the grounds of the Mortonhall estate, and easy to find with access off the bypass. There is room for 250 units, mostly on numbered pitches on a slight slope with nothing to separate them, but marked by jockey wheel points. Over 180 places have 16A electricity, several with hardstanding, water and drainage as well, and there are many places for tents.
