Alan Rogers Review of The Falkirk Wheel

There are no formal touring facilities here, but special arrangements for overnight stays in the parking area are possible for groups. Please note that this is only suitable for caravans and motorhomes with their own facilities as there are no sanitary blocks.

The Falkirk Wheel, part of The Millennium Link project is a spectacular feat of modern structural engineering linking the Union Canal with the Forth and Clyde Canal lying 35 metres below it. Its completion was marked officially in 2002 and restored navigability across the waterways of Scotland, almost 70 years after the flight of eleven locks at Falkirk was dismantled in 1933. The world’s only rotating boat lift, it is now a major visitor attraction with a café, gift shop and interactive displays.

Facilities at The Falkirk Wheel

Visitor centre, café and gift shop (all year 11.00-16.00 Wed-Sun). Water play park and activity zone (Spring-end Oct). Boat trips. Woodland walks. Dogs are accepted on site.
