Hirzberg Camping is a quiet city site backing onto meadows and wooded hills, yet within easy reach of Freiburg’s old town quarter. To the right of the entrance is reception, a shop, the sanitary facilities and a children’s room with a play area outside. Just inside is a large convenient overnight parking area. The main part of the site is reached by a short climb passing a small reading room and flower decked sitting areas. The upper part has 76 pitches, 65 for tourers, all with 10A electricity connections. Tarmac roads lead to open grass pitches, many under mature trees.

To the left of reception and conveniently reached through a gap in the hedge is a comfortable beer garden with tables spread out under tall trees. This belongs to a restaurant specialising in serving traditional meals. The site is ideally placed for visiting the city (a bus stops right outside the gate) and there is easy access to the main road for visiting other regions. Reception holds plenty of tourist information material and the site owners, Herr and Frau Ziegler, both speak very good English and are most helpful with tourist advice. Visitors are entitled to a Konus Card with free bus and train travel throughout the Black Forest.

Modern, heated sanitary block provides free hot water, roomy adjustable showers and some washbasins in cabins. Washing machines and dryer. Kitchen with fridge, microwave and cooking rings on payment. Small shop with essential supplies. Restaurant. Play room and play area. Reading room with daily weather report. Bicycle hire. WiFi over site (charged).

Site is in the eastern part of the city. To reach it without having to drive through the city, from the B31 take exit Freiburg Kappel (F. Kappel) which is well to the east of the city and follow camping signs.
