Camping Maka is a delightful, rural site on the banks of the River Semois, reputedly Belgium’s cleanest river. Forty-four touring pitches, with 10A electricity and water, are sited close to the water, allowing everyone access to the river, and its banks and there is space for 30 tents. Fifty-five private mobile homes are hidden on two higher terraces. A small number of fully-equipped wooden cabins and tents are to rent.

The river is popular for swimming, fishing and canoeing. Canadian canoes, mountain bikes, barbecues and outdoor cooking equipment are available for hire. Facilities include a bar with a terrace overlooking the water and a shop. Not suitable for large units (over 8 m. long).

Adjacent to this is a good play area, a boules court and a pulley slide over the river which offers hours of fun for older children. Fly fishing is also popular (permit required).

The owners have provided fire pits and picnic tables along the river bank. Nearby is the village of Auby-sur-Semois which has a good selection of services. Bouillon, an attractive town and well-established tourist centre is about ten kilometres from the campsite.

A modern, heated toilet block includes facilities for babies and accessible sanitary facilities (key access). Pub/café/takeaway with terrace, shop (all season). Play area. Fishing. Games area. Direct river access. Campfire area. Canoe and mountain bike hire. Occasional activities and entertainment. Tents and cabins to rent. WiFi over site (charged). No electric barbecues.

Location

Site is close to the village of Auby-sur-Semois, east of Bouillon. Approaching from the east on N89, leave at N853 exit and follow signs to Bertrix. Before reaching the centre of Bertrix, follow signs to Auby-sur-Semois to the southwest, and then signs to site.
