This friendly and ever-popular site has a very imposing and dramatic situation in a steep valley with a fine view of the Jungfrau at the end. Mountain meltwater cascades hundreds of feet down the sheer rock walls of the valley. Many active pursuits are available in the area, as well as trips on the Jungfrau railway and mountain lifts. In winter, the site runs a free shuttle bus to the local ski lifts, and large community lounges are available for après-ski enjoyment.
Alpenblick is an all-year site in a stunning setting, located at the heart of the Bernese Oberland just 100 metres from the beautiful Lake Thun. A Swiss chalet-style building houses the reception, shop and bar/restaurant that is very popular with campers and locals alike (try the ‘schnitzelbrot’ and dine on the terrace in good weather). There are around 100 touring pitches and a further 80 residential pitches. The touring pitches are mostly grassy and level, with moderate shade, and all have 10/16A electrical connections. Some good hardstanding pitches are available for motorhomes.
Hotel Camping Sutz am Bielersee has a variety of pitches suitable for caravans and motorhomes and idyllic meadows which are just right for camping. Over twenty of the pitches are more than10m long, making it a perfect choice for owners of longer motorhomes. The pitches drain well, so if there is a downpour, you'll be sure to stay dry. Electricity, water and sewerage hookups are available. A small playground for younger campers can be found in the touring meadow; this also features a chessboard for older guests. There is also a large playing field and barefoot nature trail on-site.
Manor Farm continues to be popular with British and Dutch visitors; located in one of the traditional touring areas of Switzerland. The flat terrain is divided into 230 individual, numbered pitches, varying considerably in size (40-100 sq.m) and price. There is shade in some places.
Brienz, in the Bernese Oberland, is a delightful little town on the lake of the same name and the centre of the Swiss wood carving industry. Camping Aaregg is an excellent site of the highest quality, situated at the eastern end of the lake with breathtaking views across the water to the surrounding mountains.
This popular site is in a quiet location with fantastic views of the dramatic mountains of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. Neat, orderly and well-maintained, the site is situated in a wide valley just 1 km. from Lake Thun and 1.5 km. from the centre of Interlaken. The English-speaking owners lovingly care for the site and will endeavour to make you feel very welcome.
Gemeinde Camping Erlach is a lakeside site within walking distance of the small town of Erlach, west of Bern. There's a small beach backed by a grassy expanse offering wonderful views across the lake to the wooded hills opposite. With only 69 touring pitches of small to medium size, it can fill up quickly during the high season, especially at weekends. Some pitches have hardstandings suitable for motorhomes, and several tent-only pitches are available. Many pitches have lovely views over the Bielersee, and the marina, with numerous lake cruise options, is only a few minutes walk away.
Camping Vitznau is situated in the small village of the same name, above and overlooking Lake Luzern, with splendid views across the water to the mountains on the other side. It is a small, neat and tidy site very close to the delightful village on the narrow, winding, lakeside road. The 70 touring pitches for caravans and motorhomes (max length 8 m) have 15A electricity available, and all have fine views. They are on level, grassy terraces with hardstanding for motorhomes and separated by tarmac roads. There are separate places for tents. Trees provide shade in parts, and this delightful site makes an excellent base for exploring around the lake, the town of Luzern and the nearby mountains. A number of small chalet-style camping huts are available for hire.
Situated on Lac Lucerne's shore, between a sports centre, marina and a lakeside beach, Camping Buochs Vierwaldstättersee is an ideal site for relaxing in the sun. Take the occasional refreshing dip in the lake (50 metres away), or venture further afield to explore the Swiss Plateau and the Alps' beauty. Completely renovated in 2017 the modern site features 150 level pitches, of which around 90 are for touring. All have 8A electricity, but there is little, to no shade. There is no restaurant, but campers may use a communal barbecue. There is plenty to do on-site, hire of electric bikes allows you to take advantage of the numerous cycling routes nearby, and Lucerne is a short bus and train journey away. Several accommodation options are available, including tipi, pods and shepherd style huts.
One of the finest sites we have seen, Camping Seefeld Sarnen was completely rebuilt with all the features demanded by discerning campers and reopened in 2011. The location alongside Lake Sarnen is breathtaking, with views across the water to lush meadows, wooded hills and mountains topped with snow for most of the year. The seasonal pitches are immaculately maintained on their own area. There are 94 touring pitches arranged on almost level grass, each with 13A electricity and its own water tap. There is some shade from young trees which will increase as time goes on. The site not only offers active family holidays on land and on the water, but is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful part of Switzerland.
Grindelwald is a very popular summer and winter resort and Eigernordwand, at 950 m. above sea level, is dramatically situated very close to the north face of the famous mountain, in a delightful situation. The slightly sloping pitches have tarmac access roads but are not marked out. There are some trees around but little shade, although there are splendid views of surrounding mountain peaks. Being so high it can become cool when the sun goes down. Some static caravans remain during the winter with about 100 places for touring units in summer, and 20 in winter. Electricity connections (10A) are available. There is a good quality restaurant and hotel at the entrance. Excursions to the Jungfrau and climbing or walking tours are organised.
This Swiss Touring Club site is particularly suited to families with children. From the terrace of the self-service restaurant and shop there is a view of the small swimming pool and the large grass area that leads to the gently shelving waters of the lake and a small wooden jetty. The site has 860 pitches (140 for touring units) making it very popular and busy, especially at weekends and holidays. The touring pitches are divided into three sections; one with large service facilities, an open grass area and another among the pine trees with little grass. This site is run in an environmentally sensitive manner and is located in a protected nature area, a habitat for beavers, wild boar and foxes.
This small campsite is about 1,000 m. above sea level, on a road followed by many tourists and can serve either as a night stop or as a holiday base for those who like a mountain site with many attractive excursion opportunities. In summer, there are 30 pitches for touring units (limited shade), in winter 20 (the remainder of the 120 total being seasonal lets), all with 10A electricity connections. The site is equipped for winter sports camping and therefore a fair proportion of the available space consists of hardstandings for caravans on stony ground. However, there are also lawns for tents.
This small, quiet site, bordered on two sides by Lake Brienz, is only 1.5 kilometres from the centre of Interlaken and the autoroute exit. It is therefore a very convenient site, not only to spend time on and enjoy the lake and mountain views, but also as an ideal base to tour this picturesque region dominated by the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains. Almost all the 120 pitches are available for touring units. On firm, level grassy ground and under tall trees, all have 6A electricity. With magnificent views over the lake, gates give direct access to a footpath and to the lake shores. Interlaken is the tourist centre of the Bernese Oberland.
Camping Hobby 3 is a small meticulously kept 4-star family camping and caravanning site on a quiet narrow road on the outskirts of Interlaken. From the site you will have an incredible view of the Eiger and the Mönch. It is a 20 minutes’ walk from the centre of Interlaken and 10 minutes from Lake Thun. Free public transport Interlaken and surrounding (nearest bus-stop 5 minutes’ walk from site). Heide is always willing to give advice about all the excursions in the area and cycling/walking routes with accompanying documentation. Suitable for caravans, tents and camper vans. The site has 80 spacious, grass or hardstanding touring pitches with 10amp hook-up point. 45 are seasonal. Free Wi-Fi. Large playground and paddling pools (July/August)
This site is situated just south of the village of Meiringen on the route to the Grimsel Pass and Susten Passes. With a backdrop of steep cliffs it has good views of the adjacent mountains and forest-covered slopes. It provides 180 pitches of which 120 are for tourers, 100 with 10A electricity. Useful as an overnight stop en-route to the Grimsel Pass or for a short rest having faced the challenges that the Pass has to offer. Close by you will find the Aare Gorge, with its mile-long walkway, the glacier and gorge of Rosenlaui and the Reichenbach falls (where Sherlock Holmes fell to his death) and much more.
Bergcamping Heiti is a fairly new site located 10 km. from the stylish resort of Gstaad. The site has been recommended by our Swiss agent and we plan to undertake a full inspection. Bergcamping Heiti is open all year and has 50 grassy pitches suitable for summer and winter use. There is also a number of traditional wooden chalets available to rent. The wash block is fully heated and has a drying room for skiers and walkers. The site is situated at the foot of the Col du Pillon and a wide choice of walking and mountain biking routes are available. The nearby village of Gsteig is five minutes by foot and has a good selection of shops and restaurants.
This well established site, being just outside the Federal Capital, is conveniently placed either for an overnight stop or for exploring the city and surrounds. The 304 pitches (230 for touring) are numbered but not marked out and you choose your own place; cars are parked away from the pitches. All have 6A electricity and there are special pitches for motorhomes. There are some static units but there should always be room. The shop also serves drinks which can be taken to a rest room nearby or consumed on the terrace. The restaurant offers a daily lunch menu.
Luzern is a traditional holiday resort of the British, and this site has many British visitors. It lies near the shore of Lake Luzern, just 1 mile outside the town itself. This good but expensive site (£42 in low season per night) is divided into separate sections for caravans, motorhomes and tents; the first two have hardstandings which, in effect, provide rather formal and small individual pitches with shade in parts. There are 150 marked touring pitches all with 16A electricity connections. Quiet in the early season, from late June to late August it can become full and feel rather crowded, especially in the tent section. Good English is spoken.
Situated in the southern suburbs of Luzern and with easy autoroute access, this site is a very convenient base for visiting what is quite deservedly a popular tourist area. The level, grassed site provides 100 touring pitches with electricity, separated into rows by trees and hedges. It is dominated by the Pilatus mountains, over 2,000 metres high. The peaks and mountain top restaurants offer fantastic views and can be reached from Alpnachstad, on the steepest cog railway in the world or by cable car from Kriens. Access to the lake from the site is over a wooden walkway which passes through a small protected nature area.

Two of the top destinations in this region are Lake Lucerne and the Jungfrau. Lake Lucerne has breathtaking scenery and this area has activities in both summer and winter – fantastic for hiking and winter sports. If you visit the Grindelwald and Wengen in the Jungfrau it’s possible to take a track railway to the Jungfraujoch the “top of Europe” for a 360 degree view of the Alps.
