Alan Rogers Review of Camping Stuhlegg
On the outskirts of the village of Krattigen, Camping Stuhlegg is a quiet and attractive site, located well above Lake Thun and with beautiful, wide-ranging views over the lake to the mountains beyond. The 65 touring pitches, all with 10/13A electricity, are arranged on grassy terraced areas with some hardstanding for motorhomes. A central grass area serves as an overflow. A dormitory chalet has been added recently for light travelers. A few young trees provide shade. The friendly bar and bistro is also popular as a meeting point for the villagers, which adds a touch of local colour. This is a site where you can relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air and scenery. The site owners speak excellent English.
They are only too willing to advise on activities and excursions that can be undertaken in the region. In addition, the Krattigen guest information booklet is available in English and is a wealth of diverse information. Here you can discover where in the village good home Swiss cooking can be tried, what boat, train and bus excursions are available, museums to visit or where the William Tell play, in Swiss German, can be seen. The Panorama Card affords free local travel and useful discounts.
Facilities at Camping Stuhlegg
Two modern sanitary facilities, the one near the entrance is heated, the other at the top of the site is for summer use and unheated. They contain all the usual facilities, showers operate with either coins or tokens. Laundry room. Baby bath. Motorhome services. Shop, bar and bistro with takeaway (all open as site). Delightful solarheated natural swimming pool with shallow section for children. TV room and library. Play area. Communal barbecue. Internet point. WiFi throughout (free).
Directions to Camping Stuhlegg
Site is almost halfway between Spiez and Interlaken on the southern side of the Thunersee. Leave A8 at exit 20 and follow signs for Krattigen. Site is signed at top of village to the right (north).
