De Nollen is a comfortable, nine-hectare site, ideal for couples, seniors and families with younger children. There is a variety of pitches (60-120 sq.m) some basic without connections, most with 10A electricity and comfort pitches also with water, drainage and cable TV. There is plenty to keep children occupied, with several playgrounds across the site, one with a large inflatable. The two nature reserves adjacent give the site a tranquil atmosphere. The Eetboey restaurant and snack bar offers simple meals and takeaway dishes. You can also eat outside on the terrace and there is a play corner for younger children.
Camping Vogelenzang is a friendly campsite with 600 pitches, located 9 km. from the North Sea beaches. The cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam with their old streets are within reach. There are 250 level, grassy pitches for touring caravans and tents, 140 with 16A electricity connections. There is a separate area for motorhomes. Mature trees and hedges provide shade.
Camping De Krim Texel is an attractive, well-maintained campsite which is open all year round and you are assured of a warm welcome. There are about 900 pitches which include 413 are for touring units and tents. All have electricity, and 179 have electricity, water and drainage; there are 100 pitches with private sanitary facilities. There are separate areas for bungalows and mobile homes. The manager tells us that Texel records the lowest rainfall and the most hours of sunshine than any other part of the Netherlands. The site is 3 km. from the northern point of Texel.
Camping de Zwaluw is near the wide sandy beaches of the North Sea, only 7 km from Den Helder. It is a small site with 70 flat and grassy touring pitches, 10/16 amp electric hook-up point and without shade. The children’s play area has an air trampoline, slides and climbing frames and there's a playhouse for the little ones next to the reception. The site has 70 bungalows, log cabins and apartments of which 10 are available to hire. It's a simple layout and the huge beach is the key attraction of course.
The recently renovated Texelcamping Loodsmansduin is located in Texel’s Nationaal Park Duinen in one of the least developed parts of the island. For motorhome owners, hardstandings are available but there are also large, grassy pitches located between the dunes and heather. There are also 60 chalets to rent and a number of hikers’ cabins. All pitches are equipped with 16A electricity and TV connections. Leisure amenities include a tennis court, a football pitch and a heated swimming pool. For children, there is a professional entertainment team during May and in the summer holidays. Close to the site, the village of Den Hoorn, with its Michelin-starred restaurant, is an attractive spot for a delicious meal.
Molengroet is a pleasant, modern site, located near a watersports complex and only 40 km. from Amsterdam. It is a good place to stop on the way to the Afsluitdijk (the 32 km. dyke across the top of the IJsselmeer) or as a holiday site for watersports enthusiasts. There are 295 pitches, 157 for tourers have electricity (10A) and TV point, and 100 of these also have water and waste water points. The standard pitches are on the small side. The remaining pitches have quality mobile homes. The café/restaurant was welcoming and the prices were reasonable.
Droompark Buitenhuizen is located in the nature and leisure park of Spaarnwoude, which boasts excellent facilities for swimming, canoeing, skiing, golf, riding and much more. The site has around 200 very comfortable bungalows and a separate area with 130 large well-shaded pitches of 120 sq.m. each with 10A electricity. Special pitches for caravans have 16A electricity and a TV connection. Cars cannot be parked on the pitches (a large car park is available at the site entrance). A stylish renovated farm building houses a brasserie for lunches and dinners. You can swim in the site’s heated outdoor pool or in a lake (with a sandy beach).
Camping Zeeburg is a welcoming site attractively located to the east of Amsterdam on an island in the IJmeer and, unusually, combines a sense of nature with the advantage of being just 20 minutes (5 km) from the city centre. In a sense, Zeeburg reflects the spirit of Amsterdam, claiming to be open, friendly and tolerant. The site provides 350 pitches for tents (no electricity) and 100 pitches with 10A electricity for caravans and motorhomes, most on hardstandings and with views over the IJmeer. Tent pitches cannot be booked in advance and the maximum duration allowed on site is 14 days. Zeeburg also offers a number of colourful eco-cabins and Romany-style wagons or ‘pipowagens’.
Kennemer Duincamping Bakkum lies in a wooded area in the centre of a protected dune reserve. There are over 1,700 pitches of which 337 are used for touring units. These pitches are spacious and 300 are equipped with electricity (10A Europlug). Mobile homes and seasonal units use the remaining pitches in separate areas of the site. For safety and tranquillity the majority of the site is kept free of cars. Family activities and special entertainment for children are arranged in high season. The dunes are accessible from the site and offer plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling with the beach a walk of only 25 minutes.
Camping de Shelter, on the island of Texel, is an all year site. There are just 70 pitches here, set out on small fields, surrounded by clusters of trees. Pitches are large (min. 100 sq.m) and equipped with electricity (16A), water and drainage, with little shade. The emphasis here is on peace and quiet, so there are no organised activities, except for children’s entertainment in high season, shared with the sister site, Om de Noord, and relatively few amenities. Under 25s are not admitted unless accompanied by adults. The village of De Koog is within walking distance for shops and restaurants.
Vliegenbos enjoys the best of both worlds with an appealing location in a large wood, ten minutes from the lively centre of Amsterdam and five minutes by bike from the countryside of the Waterland region, best known for its open expanses and picturesque towns such as Marken, Edam and Volendam. It extends over a 2.5 hectare site and has a good range of amenities including a restaurant, shop and recently renovated toilet blocks. Most of the 400 pitches are for tents, but there are 34 hardstandings (10A electricity) and a further 40 smaller hardstandings (no electricity).
Camping de Vest is a small and simple campsite located near Enkhuizen, a beautiful city in North Holland, Netherlands. The campsite is within walking distance of the train station, making it easy to explore the area. It is also close to all the main attractions in Enkhuizen, including the Zuiderzee Museum, the Drommedaris, and the Old Town. On site , there are 50 spacious touring pitches which are set over open fields and have with electric hook-up points available (4-Amp).
Camping Alkmaar is a friendly, family run campsite on the outskirts of the charming town of Alkmaar and near the artisan village of Bergen. A short cycle ride will take you to the peaceful countryside of Noord-Holland with its dunes, wide sandy beaches, woods and unique polder landscape.
Landal Safaritenten Gooise Heide is set in a beautiful location within the forest and moor. This is a peaceful site with several small camping fields surrounded by hedging, flowers and old trees. There are 220 spacious pitches of which 100 are for touring and 100 are seasonal pitches – all are car free. Motorhomes can be sited on an area near reception. The site, while basic in some respects, is ideal for all ages due to the recreational opportunities in the area. The moors and forest are ideal locations to cycle or walk and the Rand Lake nearby offers plenty of water sports such as swimming, sailing and surfing.
Amsterdam is probably the most popular destination for visits in the Netherlands and Gaasper Camping Amsterdam is on the southeast side, a short walk from a Metro station with a direct 15-minute service to the centre. The site is well kept and neatly laid out on flat grass with attractive trees and shrubs. There are touring pitches in two main areas – one more open and grassy, mainly kept for tents, the other more formal with numbered pitches mainly divided by shallow ditches or good hedges. Areas of hardstanding are available and all caravan pitches have electrical connections (10A).
This first class site on the Dutch coast has 470 pitches with 220 for touring units, the remainder used by seasonal campers, with a number of static units (mostly privately owned). All touring pitches have electricity (10/16A), water, drain and TV aerial point (70-110 sq.m. but car free). Two pitches have private sanitary facilities. The grass pitches are arranged in long rows which are separated by hedges and shrubs, with access from hardcore roads. There is hardly any shade. There are facilities for many activities, including a heated indoor pool, a fitness room and tennis courts. Tempelhof is close to the North Sea beaches (1 km). Member of Leading Campings group.
Camping Schoonenberg is a simple, family-run campsite set in the heart of an oak forest. It is surrounded by 25 hectares of wooded estates. The campsite covers 2.5 hectares and is affiliated with the Nature Campgrounds organisation. The camping areas are car-free except for loading; this makes it a very safe and friendly environment. There are 82 pitches, 23 with 4A electricity connections, most have shade and are separated by mature bushes. The twice-weekly evening bonfire is an ideal meeting place to make new friends and discuss the numerous activities nearby, many of which can be reached using hired bicycles.
Callassande is a popular family run site 900 metres from a sandy beach and welcomes families with teenagers. The 500 grassy pitches include 340 for tourers; half are 89 sq.m. with electricity (10A) and TV point, the other half are slightly larger and also have water and drainage. The indoor heated pool (charged) is fun for everyone with a large chute, a jacuzzi, a special paddling area and an opening roof for sunny days. There is a children’s play area adjacent to the pool with a pirate ship, a new climbing dome and trampolines. Parents of young children should be aware of the canals that run around the edge of the site.
Camping Bloemendaal is a small, pleasant family campsite of 2.5 hectares, situated at the edge of the De Kennemerduinen National Park. The popular beach of Bloemendaal is only a stroll away. The seaside resort Zandvoort (5 km. to the south) has a racing car circuit, a casino and many bars and discos. The pitches for tents are on a natural sandy soil and there is no electricity. Families and young people are allocated pitches on separate fields. Pitches for caravans and motorhomes are either on grass or on hardstandings (shells or shredded wood) and are equipped with 4A electricity.
Close to the marine city of Den Helder and about 600 m. from a wide, sandy beach is Camping ’t Noorder Sandt. Adjacent to the site is the Duinvliet, a route for hikers, cyclists and horse riders – you can even do the route in a canoe! Some 180 open and shady touring pitches are available here. They are comfortable and are all equipped with 10A electricity; 60 also have water, drainage and cable connections.

No visitor to this part of the Netherlands should miss the city of Amsterdam with its delight of bridges, canals, museums, and listed buildings.
Beside the many historical cities and densely populated, modern residential areas, there is plenty of space for unique landscapes such as Waterland (near Amsterdam) and the Kennemer Dunes (near Haarlem).
Noord-Holland is a broad peninsula lying between the North Sea and the IJsselmeer. With more than 2.5 million people sharing an area of 2,670 sq.km, it is the country’s second most populated province. In 1600, half of its surface was covered by water, then began the reclamation of land, and the construction of giant polders such as Beemster, Purmer and Schermer, a testament to the relationship between man and the sea. But there is much more to this province: forests, moors, dunes, beaches and meadows form a diverse landscape embroidered with quaint towns and charming, sleepy villages, rich in folklore and legend.
Almost the entire west coast is made up of dunes and beaches. You have a choice of secluded bays or lively seaside resorts, simple pavilions or trendy beach restaurants. The east coast is bordered by the fresh water of the IJsselmeer, which offers numerous activities on its many ponds, lakes and canals. Noord-Holland’s rich trading history is reflected in the elegant and vibrant cities, where there are ample opportunities to shop, visit museums and galleries, or just sit at a terrace café and watch the world go by.
