Le Moulin is a member of the Huttopia group and is situated just 300 m. from the centre of Saint Martin-d’Ardèche. The site has its own river beach and is well placed for canoe trips on the Ardèche. There are 121 touring pitches here, extending over the site’s seven hectares. The pitches have varying degrees of shade and most have 10A electricity. Rental accommodation includes eight modern wood chalets, 39 safari tents (many with a bathroom) and 16 Romany-style caravans. Amenities include a pleasant snack bar and a café. A children’s club operates in peak season, focusing on craft activities and games.
This site is located just north of the town of Dieulefit. The name originates from Dieu l’a fait, meaning God made it, so it is not surprising to find a Huttopia site set in a managed forest, by a small lake, with stunning views over the town and across the valley. It follows the Huttopia philosophy of high standards combined with a sense of real camping, therefore no cars are generally allowed on pitches. There are 74 pitches with rental accommodation in the form of Cahuttes, Cabanes or Canadiennes, and a variety of clever wood and canvas structures. The remaining 91 pitches (66 with electricity) are for camping amongst the trees, although there are some closer to the central lodge which are more open. ‘Bivouac’ outdoor cooking and eating areas are dotted around the site. There are two pools and a good range of on-site amenities including a shop, bar and restaurant.
With easy access from the A6 autoroute and the N6, this attractive and welcoming site is perfect for overnight stops. But stay awhile and get to know this delightful region with its wine heritage, historical monuments and magical rolling landscape. This is a neat, well-ordered campsite situated in the heart of Beaujolais. It's surrounded by vineyards and just walking distance (within 1 km) of the pretty village of Fleurie (one of the premier Beaujolais crus). Here you'll find all the shops and amenities you'll need.
Camping Nature Parc l’Ardéchois is a very high-quality, family-run site within walking distance of the amenities of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc. It borders the River Ardèche, and hugely popular canoe trips are run directly from the site. The campsite is just 4 km from the famous Pont-d’Arc, a huge limestone arch spanning the river, and its river beach. A drive along the gorge is a must, with spectacular viewpoints.
This spacious site is on the southern outskirts of Privas and aims to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere. The site has 166 large, grass, mostly level pitches, of which 112 are for touring units with 10A electricity and trees offering varying degrees of shade. It is a comfortable base for exploring the lesser-known parts of the Ardèche with bus and coach trips available. On site there is something for all ages with a bar, restaurant, heated swimming pool complex and a multisports area with outdoor gym equipment. A welcome drink is offered each Sunday evening when details of the attractions in the area are given.
Saint-Disdille is situated 300 m. from the beautiful Lake Geneva and the famous spa towns of Thonon-les-Bains, which can be reached on a bus that passes the site, and Evian-les-Bains. There are 297 large, level touring pitches on stone and rough grass (rock pegs are essential). Large trees give some shade. Those reserved for touring have 10A electricity and are scattered amongst mobile homes and permanent weekender caravans and can be some distance from the facilities situated by the entrance. The site is ideally placed for the large range of watersports in the area, and Switzerland is easily accessible by car, bus, train or boat.
Camping Détente et Clapotis is in the Rhône-Alpes, on the banks of the Lac de Paladru. The site has 212 grass pitches, of which 140 are for touring units and have a 6/10-amp hook-up point, and there are 32 chalets are available for hire. At the front of the campsite, the touring pitches are located. These are quite open, and most are in the sun, but the large open lawns mean you have great views of the lake and direct access to the water.
A friendly welcome is assured from the owners of this spacious site situated in quiet, flat countryside near the pleasant small town of Pont-de-Vaux. The 2.5 hectare (six-acre) site has 54 large (100-400 sq.m), level, grassy pitches, all of which are available to tourers. Almost all are separated by hedges and most are shaded by trees. All but three have electrical connections (10A) and water. Because of its friendly and tranquil atmosphere, the site is popular with English and Dutch visitors alike, who choose to break their journey here for several days to or from the South of France.
La Pinède has direct access to Excenevex beach, the only naturally sandy beach on Lake Geneva. The site has a pleasant woodland setting and the 357 touring pitches are of a good size, all with 16A electricity. Accommodation for rent includes specially adapted units for wheelchair users. There is a supervised bathing area on the beach, which shelves gradually and a small harbour suitable only for boats with a shallow draught. Other amenities include a shop and takeaway food service, as well as an entertainment marquee, a play area and and outdoor and indoor swimming pool.
This site on the bank of the Ardèche, Camping la Roubine must be considered one of the best sites in the area. There are 97 touring pitches, all with electricity (10A) and quite spacious. Well tended grass, trimmed hedging and mature trees and smart tarmac roads create a calm and well kept atmosphere. The proprietors, M. Moulin and Mme. Van Eck like to welcome their guests and are available to help during the day – they are rightly proud of their well run campsite.
This is a large commercial site on the southern banks of Lake Annecy and has its own beach directly on the lake. The site consists of just 57 touring pitches, all with 6amp E.H.U. and some have a freshwater tap; pitches vary in size upwards from 90 m2 and are separated by low hedges; all have tree shade. Access to the site is good, and check-in was quick and efficient; you will be allocated a pitch upon arrival, and advanced booking is advisable. A bus which will take you to Annecy stops near the entrance and close to the site, as is the cycle track that circumnavigates the Lake. This site is very modern, all the facilities are of a high standard and staff speak several languages.
Situated on the doorstep of the Ardèche Gorges, Yelloh! Village Aluna Vacances is well-placed for all kinds of outdoor activities. The famous Pont d'Arc itself is only 15 km away, popular for canoeing excursions amidst spectacular scenery. The surrounding wooded hills offer wonderful cycling and hiking trails through the wild herbs of the garrigue landscape.
A large, lively, high quality site bordering the River Ardèche, complete with beach, Soleil Vivarais has much to offer visitors, particularly families with children. Of around 300 pitches, 130 are generously sized, shady and level pitches are for touring units, all with 10A electricity and many are situated beside the river bank. During the day the proximity of the swimming pools to the bar and restaurant terraces make it a pleasantly social area. In the evening the purpose built stage, with professional lighting and sound system, provides regular family entertainment programmes, six evenings a week. An additional attractive pool complex can be used by guests located in a separate mobile home section beyond the beach.
In the heart of the Ardèche and close to the famous gorges, Le Ranc Davaine is a large, busy, family-oriented site with direct access to the River Chassezac and its pebble beach. There are approximately 500 pitches, 50 for touring, all with electricity (10/16A), for which very long leads are required (some may cross roads). Most pitches are scattered between static caravan and tour operator pitches on reasonably flat, stony ground under a variety of trees, some of which are pretty low, giving much-needed shade.
Situated behind the arches of a 19th-century viaduct, not presently in use, this ten-hectare site is a real delight, being divided by a small river, which is dammed for swimming, with a short causeway crossing. The owners have developed a site which shuns the razzmatazz of many holiday sites yet is welcoming and relaxing, making the most of its natural setting. There are 137 touring pitches ranging from small to very large, all with 10A electricity. Although one side of the site is on a gentle hill, all pitches are flat and almost all are shaded. A few have wooden terraces overlooking the river.
This urban site is situated on the banks of the Ardèche river, on the outskirts of the ancient town of Vallon. For those wishing to explore the country along this famous river, the site offers 130 smallish (80 sq.m) grass, hedge lined and shaded pitches, all with electricity (6A). There is an access gate (locked at night) to a small beach at the river’s edge. Although the town’s facilities are close to hand, a small restaurant with takeaway is available during the season, together with a mini-market. There may be some road noise, but the site is well placed for the explorer!
Camping Onlycamp Les Peupliers is a green site in Lépin-le-Lac, Savoie, just a stone's throw from Lake Aiguebelette in the French Alps. The site has 164 grass pitches, 114 for touring units, a 6-amp hook-up point, 40 seasonal pitches, and ten chalets or safari tents available to hire. The pitches are large and shaded, with ample privacy thanks to the hedges and shrubs separating them.
Camping La Vieille-Eglise is located at the foot of the Alps in Haut-Savoie, on a hillside on the shores of Lake Geneva, on the border of France and Switzerland. With 100 spacious touring pitches with views over lake Geneva to choose from, this campsite is a great base to explore the local area. The campsite itself is equipped with an outdoor pool, and indoors games room, mini golf and pentanque court. This small, pleasant site in a rural setting next to a lavender field and within walking distance of the picturesque ancient village of Grignan, provides a haven of peace and tranquillity. The 85 good sized pitches are level and fairly stony with 78 for touring units, all with 10A electricity. They are shaded by oak trees and separated by rosemary or laurel hedging. The Croze family is most welcoming and achieves high standards while maintaining a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The Drôme is one of the most beautiful regions of France; vineyards, olive orchards, lavender, sunflowers, wild flowers and orchards abound.
This spacious and peaceful site is run by a very friendly family who have made many improvements, making it comfortable and welcoming. It lies in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains, south of the Vercors National Park. The 130 pitches (70 for touring) are level with rough grass, slightly uneven and separated by a variety of trees offering some shade (rock pegs advised). All have electricity (10A). At the centre of the site is an attractive lake of 2.5 hectares with warm, clean water fed by springs, making it ideal for swimming and fishing. A good bar, restaurant and terrace overlook the lake and there is plenty of space for children to play.

With a rich and varied landscape, the Rhône Alpes is a spectacular region that includes the craggy gorges and scented hills of the Rhône Valley, the deep valleys and mountain slopes of the Savoie Alps and the forbidding Dauphiné Alps.
The Rhône Valley holds areas of great interest and natural beauty. From the sun-baked Drôme, with its ever-changing landscapes and the isolated mountains of the Vercors to the deep gorges and high plateaux of the Ardèche, studded with prehistoric caves and lush valleys filled with orchards, it is a region of immense diversity and splendour. For the energetic there are cycling, horse riding and even white-water rafting opportunities, while for the more leisurely inclined, the remote areas are a haven for bird watching and walking.
Lying between the Rhône Valley and the Alpine borders with Switzerland and Italy are the old provinces of Savoie and Dauphiné. These are areas of enormous granite outcrops, deeply riven by spectacular glacier hewn valleys and hailed as some of the world’s leading winter playgrounds. Despite development, great care has been taken to blend the old with the new and many traditional villages still retain their charm and historical interest. For many, it is an opportunity to escape the crowds and enjoy some clean air, unusual wildlife and stunning views.
