Lake Idro, one of the smaller of the northern Italian lakes, is tucked away in the mountains to the west of Lake Garda. Rio Vantone is on the southeast shore of the lake with marvellous views across the water to the villages on the opposite bank and surrounding mountains. The ground slopes gently down to the water’s edge with many of the 190 touring pitches in level rows divided by hedges, with others between tall trees. All have 6A electricity and there are 46 with water and drainage. The ones nearest the lake attract a higher charge. The lake is ideal for windsurfing and the surrounding countryside for walking and climbing.

Being away from the main highways, the site is ideal for longer stays and is a peaceful spot in which to relax and from which to explore the countryside and nearby small towns. There are 46 tour operator tents and mobile homes but these are not intrusive. The site buildings are in the traditional style of the region but with a modern and interesting interior design. This development is a great feature for the site. The bar and terrace overlook the swimming pool and the children’s pool.

The main, heated sanitary block occupies the ground floor of a large building and is of excellent quality including cabins (WC, washbasin and shower). A smaller block is also open in high season. Accessible facilities. No hot water 22.00-06.00. Washing machines and dryer. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Cooking rings. Shop. Bar. Excellent restaurant (15/5-15/9). Swimming pools. Lake swimming. Windsurf school. Boat and mountain bike hire. Play area. Torches useful in some areas. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Sportcamping Rio Vantone

Idro is 45 km. northeast of Brescia. From A4 autostrada take Brescia Est exit. Go north on SS45bis towards Salò then follow brown signs for Valle Sabia and Lago d’Idro on SS237 via Vobarno, Barghe (bypassed) and Lavenone to Lemprato. Turn right into narrow road after town sign for Idro.
