Uniquely centred around a working fishing quay set in an idyllic bay, Skjerneset Camping has been developed to give visitors a historical insight into this industry. It steps back in time in all but its facilities and offers boats to hire and organised trips on a working fishing boat.

Found on the tiny island of Ekkilsøya off Averøy, there is space for 30 caravans and motorhomes on gravel hardstandings landscaped into rocks and trees, each individually shaped and sized and all having electricity connections (10/16A).

There are grassy areas for tents on the upper terraces and a small number of fully equipped cabins.

Although the fishing industry here has declined, it is still the dominant activity. The old Klippfisk warehouse is now a fascinating ‘fisherimuseum’ and also houses the main sanitary installations and reception. It encompasses a large kitchen, laundry, several lounges with satellite TV and others for those who prefer to make their own entertainment, and five small four-bed apartments. A table capable of seating the whole campsite runs the length of the top floor of the old warehouse where, steeped in history, special events can be celebrated. Varied activities are available including free bicycle hire, walking and ornithological opportunities, comprehensive boat hire and facilities for visiting fishermen to clean and freeze their catches.

Central unisex sanitary block has open washbasins and hot showers, Accessible facilities, a large well-equipped kitchen, dining area with TV, small laundry, large drying room and several lounge areas. Additional smaller separate sex sanitary blocks each have WC, shower and enclosed washbasin. Kitchen. Fish preparation and freezing areas. Motorhome services. Sauna. Satellite TV. Motorboat hire. Free bicycle hire. Free WiFi. Organised sea fishing and sightseeing trips in owner’s sea-going boat. Sales of fresh fish and prepared fish dishes for guests to heat.
