De Schotsman is located on the island of Noord-Beveland, on the shores of Veerse Meer. Benefitting from recent renovations throughout the site, it has its own marina with a slipway and a good selection of boats for hire for all abilities. In the high season, there is a full programme of windsurfing and sailing lessons. There is also a large, heated, outdoor pool with a separate children’s pool and an inviting restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. It is within reach of the ports of Hook of Holland, Zeebrugge, Dunkerque, and two and a half hours from Calais, so may also be ideal for a short break in the low season.

The site is located in a wooded area and from the restaurant terrace you can see the old fishing village of Veere, on the opposite side of the lake. The nearest sea beach can be accessed on foot. On all sides, Zeeland is best known for its polderland, a fascinating land of dykes and sea marshes. This is an ideal area for cycling with beaches, dunes, woodlands and areas set aside for nature reserves. The huge lake has passenger ferries and day trip cruises are available. These include excursions by canal to Middelburg, the historic capital of Zeeland. There are some charming villages, impressive brick built churches and beach pavillions serving snacks and refreshments allowing you to spend an uninterrupted day at the beach.

Four spacious sanitary units are very clean and well equipped and have accessible facilities. Larger block contains a launderette. Bakery and well stocked supermarket. Bar, restaurant with lake view terrace, and takeaway. Heated outdoor pool with separate children’s pool, slides and water chute and paddling pool (all season). Heated indoor swimming pool, Sports hall. Play area. Gym, Bicycle and go-kart hire. Fishing. Windsurf, pedalo and canoe hire. Lake beach. Marina with slipway. WiFi (free). Directions to RCN de Schotsman

From autoroute A58 Bergen op Zoom-Vlissingen, take exit Zierikzee (N256). Then go left to join N255 to Kamperland. From here the site is clearly signed (to the left).
