Alan Rogers Review
A wide attractive entrance leads to this basic, spacious park with a capacity of 1,200 units. You pitch on level, grassy sand beneath tall trees that provide some shade, accessed from tarmac and gravel roads. Electricity (6/10A) is available for most pitches. As there are no marked pitches, the site can cater for very large units. The beach is a brisk walk away, as are the shops, bars and restaurants of the small town, and for the less energetic a bus runs from close to the entrance. There is a wide choice of beaches and resorts along this stretch of coast. Albufeira is a busy little resort just a short drive to the east, and bustling Faro and Portimão are also within easy reach.
There are many tourist attractions in the area, including theme and water parks. Armação de Pêra makes an excellent base for annual holidays and for winter sun-seekers looking for an extended stay. The facilities are open all year and the self-service restaurant, bar and well stocked supermarket should cater for most needs. The disco near the entrance and café complex is soundproofed, which should ensure a peaceful night for non-revellers.
Three traditional sanitary blocks provide British and Turkish style WCs and showers with hot water (on payment). Facilities for disabled campers. Long-stay visitors reported that they are kept clean. Laundry. Supermarket. Self-service restaurant. Three bars (one all year). Swimming and paddling pools (May-Nov; charged July/Aug; no lifeguard). Games and TV rooms. Tennis. Well maintained play area. ATM. Internet access. WiFi on part of site (free).
Site is west of Albufeira. From A22 Algarve/Spain motorway leave at exit 7 (Alcantarilha) and head east on N125/IC4 to Alcantarilha, turning south on the EN269-1 towards the coast. Site is on the left on the third roundabout and is also known as Camping Praia de Armação de Pêra.
