Mortonhall Park makes a good base to see the historic city of Edinburgh and buses to the city leave from the park entrance every ten minutes (parking in Edinburgh is not easy). Although only four miles from the city centre, Mortonhall is in quiet mature parkland, in the grounds of the Mortonhall estate, and easy to find with access off the bypass. There is room for 250 units, mostly on numbered pitches on a slight slope with nothing to separate them, but marked by jockey wheel points. Over 180 places have 16A electricity, several with hardstanding, water and drainage as well, and there are many places for tents.

The park is very popular but only part is reserved and tourists arriving early may find space. An attractive courtyard development houses a lounge bar and restaurant, open all year and to all, with good value meals in pleasant surroundings. There are mobile homes (20) and wooden family camping cabins (Wigwams) to rent.

Facilities

Two modern toilet blocks with covered, outdoor dishwashing sinks, but the only cabins are in the third excellent facility at the top of the park, which has eight unisex units incorporating shower, washbasin and WC. The courtyard area provides further basic facilities and prefabricated type units are added for the high season to serve the large number of tents. Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry room with washing machines and dryer. Motorhome services. Bar/restaurant. Self-service shop (all season). Games and TV rooms. Play area. Late arrivals area with hook-ups. Torches useful in early and late season. Security lockers. Internet access at reception (£1 per half an hour). WiFi throughout (charged). Glamping style pods are available to rent.

Location

Park is well signed south of the city, 5 minutes from A720 city bypass. Take the Mortonhall exit from the Straiton junction and follow camping signs. Entrance road is alongside the Klondyke Garden Centre.
