Alan Rogers Review of Laneside Caravan Park
Laneside Caravan Park is in a beautiful location facing Win Hill, Lose Hill, and the high gritstone hills of The Dark Peak, while the gentler rolling hills of The White Peak are to the south. The park is on the floor of Hope Valley with the River Noe running alongside. There are 160 marked level pitches, 95 on grass and 30 on hardstanding for touring units, while 35 are seasonal; 110 have 16A electricity hook-ups. The two toilet blocks have recently been refurbished. The site welcomes families (although there is no swimming pool on site) and quiet couples, but no young single-sex groups or unaccompanied teenagers. The river separates the site from Hope village – over the bridge and you are there, and there is a wealth of riverside and hill footpaths for walkers.
Buses up and down the valley stop outside the exit and Hope village railway station is a four minute walk. Castleton with its medieval castle and caverns is two miles down the valley road – or a pleasant half-hour riverside stroll straight from the site. Chatsworth House is a 15 minute drive.
