Alan Rogers Review of La Rocca Camp

This site was one of the first to operate on the lake and the family has a background of wine and olive oil production. La Rocca is in two areas, each side of the busy A249, the upper part being used mostly for bungalows and these have great lake views. The remaining touring pitches are on the lower part of the site, along with the main facilities. There is access between the two parts via a tunnel. The 400 pitches are mostly on terraces with shade, 10-16A electricity and access from narrow tarmac roads. Sixteen pitches are available with full services.

The site is very popular with Dutch campers and all the guests seemed happy when we visited. It celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. A family site with pleasant pools and direct access to the lake, providing a choice of watersports. The huge Gardaland theme park is close by (a free bus runs from the site gate). All of the facilities are high quality and the owners are keen to please their guests. This site is not ideal for campers with mobility problems as there are large distances to cover to get to some facilities. Access to the new pool is either by 30 steps or a slope, and is a pleasant place to spend time relaxing.

Four toilet blocks, two on each side of the site. Mixed British and squatstyle WCs and controllable showers. Accessible facilities, Children’s facilities. Washing machines. Motorhome services. Shop and bakery. Restaurant, bar and takeaway with large terrace. Swimming and paddling pools (lifeguard). Whirlpool. Sun terrace with views. Pool bar. Play area. Entertainment programme in season. Miniclub. Internet. Bicycle hire. Games room. Watersports. WiFi throughout (charged). Torches useful. Only gas barbecues permitted, communal area also provided.

Directions to La Rocca Camp

Site is on the east side of Lake Garda, on the lake ring road 249. From A4 take Pescheria exit and 249 north for Garda (there are many signs for Gardaland). Site is well signed approaching Bardolino.
