Amsterdam is probably the most popular destination for visits in the Netherlands and Gaasper Camping Amsterdam is on the southeast side, a short walk from a Metro station with a direct 15-minute service to the centre. The site is well kept and neatly laid out on flat grass with attractive trees and shrubs. There are touring pitches in two main areas – one more open and grassy, mainly kept for tents, the other more formal with numbered pitches mainly divided by shallow ditches or good hedges. Areas of hardstanding are available and all caravan pitches have electrical connections (10A).

Some seasonal and permanent units have their own area. In high season the site becomes very crowded and it is necessary to arrive during the day to find space (in July/Aug. check-ins start at 11.00). Although this is a typical, busy city site, it is better than many and there is a friendly welcome, with good English spoken. On the edge of a large park with nature areas and a lake (with sailing facilities and swimming beaches), there are also opportunities for relaxation. Tickets for the public transport, main museums and attractions are available in reception.

Three modern, clean toilet blocks (one unisex) for the tourist sections are an adequate provision. A number of cabins with basin and shower. Hot water for showers and some dishwashing sinks on payment. Facilities for babies. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Supermarket, café/bar/restaurant plus takeaway (all 1/4-1/11). Play area on grass. WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Gaasper Camping Amsterdam

Take exit 1 for Gaasperplas-Weesp (S113) from A9 motorway. Turn left from slip road. Site is clearly signed. Note: do not take the Gaasperdam exit (S112) which comes first if approaching from the west.
