Alan Rogers Review of Flower Camping la Plage
La Plage is situated 3 km. from Treignac across the road from Lac des Bariousses. There are 146 large grassy pitches, 94 for touring most with 6A electricity. The site is well shaded and the flat pitches are terraced down the slope. All have easy access and many have views across the lake. Swimming and fishing are possible from the sandy beach. In high season there is a lifeguard on duty and all of the site’s activities are centred on the beach and lake.
There is a tunnel under the road from the site to the beach. When we visited, some of the pitches were rather cramped and the facilities were under considerable pressure at a busy time. This former municipal site is run by Flower Camping and makes a good base from which to explore the many old villages and towns.
The area is a sanctuary for rare wildlife such as otters and harrier eagles and there are plenty of footpaths, cycle tracks and bridleways that weave their way through the open spaces of moorland and the heather-covered hills. White water canoes and kayaks can be hired on the Vézère river. Children may be interested in an organised crayfishing event held each Wednesday. Some road noise may be experienced on lower pitches.
Facilities at Flower Camping la Plage
Two clean, spacious, basic toilet blocks with all necessary facilities including accessible facilities. Heated indoor swimming pool (all season). Washing machine. Small basic shop selling wine and some local specialities. Motorhome services. Snack bar on the beach (July/Aug). Fishing, canoes and pedalos. Small games room. Library with English books. Organised activities on the beach (high season). WiFi throughout. Torches recommended.

Leave Treignac on D940 towards Guéret. Site is 3 km. on the left opposite Lac des Barriousses.
