Nestling in a wooded hill in the Cathar lands of Ariège in south-western France, La Pibola is a small, family run campsite between Mirepoix and Lac Montbel. There are 58 grassy, shaded pitches on level ground, with electricity connections (16A). A range of chalets and mobile homes can be rented all year. It is quiet in low season, but becomes more lively in July and August with organised activities for the whole family. A heated swimming pool, a play area and various sporting facilities are available, whilst there is a restaurant just outside the site and a small shop in Camon.

The quaint historic village of Mirepoix has a supermarket and a number of shops and is well worth a visit, especially on Monday mornings when there is a market under the cloisters. The countryside has some spectacular scenery, with impressive waterfalls at Roquefort and caves with prehistoric wall paintings at Niaux. Ariège and neighbouring Aude are rich in historic sites such as the Cathar castles at Puivert and Montségur, and the ancient city of Carcassonne.

Location

Camon is 50 km. southwest of Carcassonne. From A61 motorway at Carcassonne and southeast take exit 22 Bram and follow D4/D119 to Mirepoix. From Toulouse take A61/A66/N20 to exit 6 then D119 to Mirepoix. Head south on D625 to La Bastide de Bousignac, then turn east on D7 past Lagarde and site is signed to right at D107 before village.
