Alan Rogers Review
Situated as it is, on the northern outskirts and within easy reach of the city of Edinburgh, this large, busy Caravan and Motorhome Club site provides an ideal base for touring. The site is only a stone’s throw away from the waterfront where visitors can walk along the promenade of Cramond and, only a short drive away, visitors can enjoy the popular coastal suburb of Portobello with its pubs, restaurants and shops. The nearest hotel/restaurant is under a mile away, and the Firth of Forth bridge about two miles.
Enter the site through rather grand gates to find the visitors’ car park and reception to the left. There are 156 large, level pitches, 142 on hardstanding, all with 16 amp electricity hook-ups and TV aerial. There are 12 with a water tap and waste water disposal also. There is provision for tents in a separate field (hook-ups available) with a covered cooking shelter and bicycle stands nearby. As the bushes planted around the site mature, there will be shade.
Edinburgh is a friendly, cosmopolitan city and the site puts you within easy reach of some of its most famous landmarks. You can visit the castle which clings dramatically to a huge rock face (home to the Scottish Crown Jewels), walk down the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyrood House (the Queen's official Scottish residence), stroll past the historic Scottish Parliament Building or enjoy the tranquil green expanse of Princes Street Gardens. The site location also ensures that you're well placed for the famously fun summer festivals, seaside strolls, a round or two of golf, Edinburgh Zoo and an almost unlimited choice of restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues. The Royal Yacht Britannia and many other attractions can be found in the city.
