La Dune des Sables is a member of the Chadotel group with a splendid coastal setting and views northwestwards along the Vendée coastline. It has undulating terrain with little shade and limited protection from wind off the sea. Access to the sandy/rocky beach is by a locked gate (opened by your barrier key) at the bottom of the site. Many of the 250 pitches are occupied by mobile homes and chalets but there are around 60 touring pitches available here, all with electricity and water. There is little grass on the sandy pitches some of which are separated by hedges or fences.
In high season there is a lively animation programme for all ages including teenagers. Some events take place outside the bar where there is a wide terrace with outdoor stage. A broad sun terrace surrounds a heated swimming pool with a water slide; the paddling pool has its own little slide. Les Sables d’Olonne is a smart resort with fashionable shops and restaurants, a good zoo and golf course. The Vendée has a wide variety of well-documented tourist attractions, and further afield, the impressive historical theme park of Le Puy du Fou and the shady waterways of Le Marais Poitevin (known as La Venise Verte) provide contrasting days out.

Three basic toilet blocks provide washbasins in cabins, preset showers, Accessible facilities, a baby room, washing machines and dryers. Motorhome services. Shop. Restaurant and takeaway. Bar (15/5-15/9). Heated swimming pool with children’s section and water slide (15/5-15/9). Play area. Minigolf. Bicycle hire. TV room. Direct access to beach. WiFi throughout (charged).
Location
Les Sables d’Olonne is 40 km. southwest of La Roche-sur-Yon. From end of A87 Cholet/La Roche-sur-Yon at exit 33, continue on D160 to Les Sables ring road. At western end of D949 ring road, follow signs to La Chaume, cross bridge and then turn north, following signs to the site.
