Alan Rogers Review of Camping Sur En
Sur En is at the eastern end of the Engadine valley, about 10 km. from the Italian and Austrian borders. The area is perhaps better known as a skiing region, but has summer attractions as well. This fairly level site is in an open valley with little shade. There is probably room for 120 touring units, all with electricity (6A), on the meadows where pitches are neither marked nor numbered. As you approach on road 27 and spot the site way below by the river, the drop may appear daunting, but becomes less so as you proceed. The exit is steep and caravanners will require plenty of pulling power, although assistance will be provided if it proves too difficult.
At nearby Scuol there is an ice rink and thermal baths, plus a wide range of activities including mountain biking, white water rafting and excursion possibilities. The friendly, English-speaking owner seems to have created a very pleasant atmosphere and although the site might be used for a night stay during transit, it could well be ideal for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday. It is popular with locals at weekends and holidays.
Facilities at Camping Sur En
The modern, heated sanitary block is good with some extra facilities in the main building. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Shop and good restaurant (all year) with covered terrace. Takeaway (high season). Outdoor heated swimming pool (June-Oct). Bicycle hire. Fishing. Entertainment (July/Aug). A symposium for sculptors is held during the second week in July. Excursions arranged in high season. New aerial ropeway adventure park in the forest (charged). Free WiFi.
Directions to Camping Sur En
Sur En is 7 km. east of Scuol. It is signed from the 27 road halfway between Scuol and Ramosch (do not let sat nav lead into Sent village). The road is a steady, winding descent.
