Alan Rogers Review
Kirchheim is just 5 km. from the A7 (50 km. south of Kassel) and also close to the Frankfurt to Dresden autobahns A5-A4 in eastern Hesse, which has the largest forested area in Germany. Pleasantly situated on the side of a valley, this is a large terraced site with some 300 level touring pitches, 50 of which are set in cul-de-sacs, and the remainder in an open area at the top of the site with views to the forest. They vary in size from 80 to 110 sq.m. but all have 16A electricity and just under half also have water and drainage.
This handy overnight stop, en-route for Berlin and Dresden, may also be used as a short break to visit Bad Hersfeld, a very pretty spa town with its old Rathaus, Ratskeller and the surrounding 16th-century houses. The area is notable for the old farm buildings and hilly landscape.
Facilities
The original sanitary facilities are in the complex at the entrance with further very good facilities at the modern restaurant building higher up the site (high season and holidays). Underfloor heating and private cabins. Accessible facilities, The tent area is currently served by a portable unit. Launderette. Motorhome services. Restaurant (with breakfast) open all year.
