Alan Rogers Review
Parc de Vaux is an ex-municipal site which was acquired in 2010 by the owners of FR72080. This 3.5 hectare site has 90 pitches, 18 occupied by mobile homes, chalets and bungalow tents available to rent. The 59 touring pitches are generally grassy and well sized (mostly with 10A electricity and water). The site is located close to the pretty village of Ambrières-les-Vallées, and there is direct access to the village from the site by a footbridge over the river. The village is around 12 km. north of Mayenne, and may prove a convenient en-route stop. There is a swimming pool adjacent (with water slide) and the site also has access to a lake and a good range of amenities.
Parc de Vaux is adjacent to the River Varenne which runs into the Mayenne. This river was the region’s most important transport artery for many years, dating back to the times of Charlemagne. It is now an important tourist feature with a great many pleasure craft in the summer. Ambrières-les-Vallées is now an attractive riverside resort with many cafés and restaurants, as well as its interesting Musée des Tisserands.
