Part of an extensive complex of campsites close to the pleasant village of Port Barcarès on the Mediterranean coast, and midway between Narbonne and the Spanish border, les Tamaris is largely dedicated to the 400 chalets and mobile homes (around 100 for hire), grouped in three concentric circles and in serried ranks. Just twenty touring pitches with electrical connections (10A Europlug) are available here but they are squeezed between the mobiles. The toilet blocks for the touring area do not open until July/August. The sandy beach is a 20 minute walk, as are the first of the shops, bars and restaurants of Le Barcarès. Regular markets are held here throughout the year and there is a busy port and marina. The Village des Pêcheurs pays tribute to the region’s fishing heritage.

Three toilet blocks (not open until July/Aug, except those beside pool). Accessible facilities, Motorhome services. Small supermarket (15/7-10/9). Bar, restaurant with takeaway (15/5-10/9). Outdoor swimming and paddling pools. Multisports court. Tennis. Minigolf. Boules. Playgrounds. Games room (1/5-14/9). Kids’ club and programme of activities and entertainment (July/Aug). No electric barbecues. Communal barbecue. WiFi throughout (charged). Max. 1 dog per unit.

Directions to Camping les Tamaris

Le Barcarès is 50 km. south of Narbonne and 18 km. northwest of Perpignan. From A9 leave at exit 41 (Perpignan Nord) follow signs for Le Barcarès, after 10 km, take exit 9 towards Canet, Toreilles, then first right to Le Barcarès village. Pass under the motorway and Les Tamaris is the second campsite on your left.
