Les Grosses Pierres is a member of the Vagues Océanes group. This is a lively four-hectare site with an attractive setting on the Ile d’Oléron, 900 m. from a sandy beach and 5 km. from the larger town of Saint Pierre d’Oléron. There are just five small pitches here for touring units, these are well shaded and grassy, most with 10A electrical connections. Chalets and mobile homes are available to rent. On-site amenities include two swimming pools, one of which is covered and a large outdoor water park with a flume and slides. Lifeguards are on duty in July and August. A varied activity programme is organised in peak season, including clubs for children of different age groups and evening entertainment.

The island is ideal for exploration by bicycle (hire available on site) and the Accrobranche adventure park at Saint Trojan and Vauban citadel at Le Château d’Oléron are both within easy reach. A little further afield, the zoo at La Palmyre is the second largest in France, the excellent aquarium at La Rochelle (as well, as its fascinating old quarters) and an excursion to the offshore Napoleonic Fort Boyard are all possible.

Directions to Camping les Grosses Pierres

Cross the (toll free) bridge onto the Ile d’Oléron from Marennes and follow signs to St Pierre and St Georges. Before reaching St Georges, turn left following signs to Les Sables Vigniers and then to the campsite.
