You are assured of a warm welcome by the friendly Dutch owners at this small, neat and tidy site. Le Bonhomme is in the verdant countryside of the Indre, between Châteauroux and Montluçon. There are just 25 large and grassy, slightly sloping pitches laid out around the edge of a small meadow. There is some shade from a variety of fruit trees and all the pitches have electricity (6A). This is excellent walking and cycling country and the owners will be pleased to recommend routes. Le Bonhomme is a very restful site but may also be a good choice for an en-route stop.

This part of the Berry is rich in places of interest which hark back to the times when it was one of France’s most important regions and the birthplace of a number of French kings and famous writers such as Balzac. Ainay-le-Vieil is known as the little Carcassonne and its château is a jewel of the Renaissance with sumptuous 16th-century wall paintings and fine gardens.

Facilities at Camping le Bonhomme

The toilet blocks are situated in one side of the farmhouse, a long walk from some pitches, with open washbasins and controllable showers. Accessible Toilet. Washing machine in farmhouse. Daily bread delivery. Weekly pizza van. Restaurant (Tue, Fri, Sun) and pizzas. Small, raised fun pool (June-Aug). Boules. Happy hour (5-6pm). Accompanied walking and cycle trips. Cottage to rent.

Directions to Camping le Bonhomme

Leave A71 autoroute at exit 8 (St Amand-Montrond) through town, then southwest on D951 then D997 to Culan. Take D943 west and bypass Châteaumeillant, then D68 northwest to Néret. Site is 3 km. north of Néret on D71, well signed Aire Naturelle.
