As its name suggests, Camping la Forêt can be found in a peaceful, wooded valley just one kilometre from Lourdes. This 4.5-hectare site has a relaxed atmosphere and a popular restaurant serving traditional specialities. The 98 grass pitches are level and shaded; 68 are for touring and have 3 – 10A electricity (French plugs) and easy access. The remainder is occupied by tastefully arranged chalets and mobile homes for rent, and the owner has created a ‘tents only’ area where car owners leave their cars in a designated car park close by, making it a very safe place for campers with young children.

The farm animal area with its geese, hens and a pig, allowed out of their compound in the evening to get to know campers, is very popular with animals and humans alike. The heated swimming pool with jacuzzi and paddling pool area has splendid views of ‘Le Grand Couvent’ at the sanctuary of Lourdes.

This campsite is perfect for visiting Lourdes (a bus runs from the site four times every day). The 7.5 km petit train ride will take you via the old quarter, the upper town and the major monuments, or you may just wish to take the waters at the sanctuary and visit the Grotto. The Funiculaire du Pic du Jer offers panoramic views and there are several interesting museums. Within easy reach are the Cirque de Gavarnie and the spa town of Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
