Camping & Gîtes La Forêt De Tessé is a small, family-run campsite located in the heart of the French countryside. They are situated in the Charente department of Nouvelle Aquitaine (was Poitou Charente) in the South West of France. The area is the second sunniest after the South of France. The campsite is set in 2 acres of woodland and offers a peaceful and relaxing setting for your holiday. The campsite is open all year round and is ideally located for exploring the surrounding area. There are many walks and cycle paths in the nearby forest, and the historic town of Parthenay is just a short drive away. There are 10 spacious touring pitches, all with electric hook-up points, and are spread out on an open field. There are also two fully-equipped tipis for hire, each with its own kitchen cabin.
The campsite facilities include an outdoor swimming pool. There is also a games room with a table tennis table and a library where you can exchange books. The campsite is ideally located for exploring the nearby villages and markets. Sauzé-Vaussais and Ruffec, both 10-15 minutes drive away, have all amenities: shops, food markets, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
The area is steeped in history. You can visit the Château de Saveilles (4.6 miles away), Eglise Saint-Martin de Pioussay (2.1 miles away), Église Notre-Dame de Bouin (3.9 miles away). There are also several lakes and rivers within a 15-minute drive from the campsite where you can enjoy a picnic, go for a swim, or even go canoeing. A popular spot for swimming in the summer is Réjallant at Ruffec.
