Katzenkopf is quietly and attractively located in a nature protected area on the banks of the River Main and only a short walk from the small, well known wine village of Sommerach. This is an excellent family run site with 142 touring pitches and a quick-stop area near the site entrance. The level, grass pitches are shaded, all have 16A electricity and 29 are fully serviced; there is no extra charge for those directly bordering the river. Two protected areas of water are suitable for swimming and boating, and a sandy bay is popular for sand castle building or lazing around in what is claimed to be Germany’s driest region.

Although this is an excellent site where one can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet it offers, it would a pity not to spend some time exploring what this region of Germany, Franken, has to offer. The city of Würzburg has much of interest, The Residenz with its famous Baroque staircase and the largest fresco in the world, the imposing Marienberg fortress and the old bridge over the River Main (1473-1543). This is also a famous wine region with many vineyards to visit, wine festivals to enjoy and Franken wine (sold in its distinctive bottle, the Bocksbeutel) to sample.

Excellent, modern toilet blocks include private cabins, free showers and accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Shop selling fresh rolls, restaurant, bar and takeaway (all open all season). Fishing. Boat launching. Sailing. Bicycle hire. Dogs accepted in part of the site only.
