Alan Rogers Review
This site is on the banks of the Rhine between Bonn and Koblenz. Although there is an emphasis on permanent caravans, there are about 200 pitches for touring units (out of 500), most with 6A electricity and 100 with water and drainage. They are either in the central, more mature area or in a newer area where the numbered pitches of 80-100 sq.m. are arranged around an attractively landscaped, small lake. Just five are by the busy river and there may be some noise from the trains that run on the other side.
Access to the river bank is through a locked gate (key from reception). Adjacent to the site is a large complex of open-air public swimming pools (small concession for campers). They claim always to find space for odd nights, except perhaps at Bank Holidays. This site is in a popular area and is busy at weekends and in high season.
Facilities
The main toilet block is heated and well maintained, with some washbasins in cabins, showers (token) and facilities for wheelchair users. A smaller block (renovated in 2012) serves the newer pitches (no showers). Laundry and cooking facilities. Motorhome services. Gas. Shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway (all 1/4-30/10 and some weekends). Play areas. Entertainment for children (July/Aug). Bicycle hire. WiFi over site (charged). Main gate is closed 22.00-07.00 (also 13.00-15.00).
Location
Remagen is 20 km. south-southeast of Bonn. Site is beside the Rhine and is signed on the N9 road just south of Remagen.
