Alan Rogers Review
Attractively located along the banks of the River Main, this site is just 2 km. north of Wertheim, a picturesque medieval old town centred around the confluence of the Rivers Main and Tauber. The town is packed with timber-framed houses and is overlooked by Germany’s largest castle ruin. The site has 200 pitches for touring, and over 50 of its 320 pitches border the river. They are open plan, level, grassed and have 6A electricity. There is tree shade in places and many pitches enjoy views over the river to the tree-covered hills beyond. With its attractive location in a scenic region, together with adjoining swimming pool complex, the site has something to offer all members of the family.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a town that takes you back to the Middle Ages and is certainly worth visiting, especially if it coincides with a Middle Ages festival. Wine from the Franken area comes in a Bockbeutel, a specially shaped bottle best bought at one of the many vineyards. From the campsite, the River Main provides an ever-changing view as the cruise ships and barges chug slowly by.
Two sanitary buildings with washbasins in cabins and facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machines and dryers. Motorhome services. Shop. Comfortable bar/restaurant with beer garden. Snack bar. Play area. Boules. Volleyball. Basketball. Boat slipway. WiFi.
Site is 40 km. west of Würzburg. Leave Autobahn 3/E41 at exit 66 Wertheim/Lengfurt to Wertheim then north alongside the river to Bestenheid. Site is signed on the outskirts.Link to campsite location map on google
