A site that lives up to its name, this one is very large, with over 800 pitches. There are 535 numbered touring pitches in rows spread over undulating sand dunes with sparse grass under pine, all with 10A electricity, and over 200 chalets and mobile homes to rent. The site is served by eight fairly modern and fairly well-maintained toilet blocks around the site. Some of the terraced pitches at the rear of the site have views of the impressive bridge onto the Ile de Noirmoutier, and there is direct access to a sandy beach via a gate. Some road noise is to be expected from the nearby bridge.

Also on site is an outdoor heated swimming pool. In July and August, the site offers clubs for children of all ages whilst adults can enjoy themed tapas, karaoke, cabaret, and aquagym. Whilst in high season this site is very busy, in low season it is rather quiet with only the pool and the playground open. Footpaths lead from the site to the village of Fromentine where there are shops and services plus the historic 19th-century Estacade and an old lighthouse. You can also buy oysters and other seafood. Follow the road from the site to the right under the bridge to the seafront and you can join the long distance coast footpath and other forest walks around the area.

Eight toilet blocks, all of a similar design, include some washbasins in cubicles, seatless toilets, baby bath, and a good unit for disabled campers. Laundry room. Outdoor heated swimming pools including one for children (1/6-15/9). Shop for bread and basics, bar and takeaway (1/7- 31/8). Playgrounds and bouncy castle. Games room. TV room. Entertainment and clubs for children (July/Aug). Multisports court. Boules. Minigolf. Bicycle hire. No charcoal barbecues (communal areas provided). Supplement for twin-axle caravans. WiFi (charged).

Location

The site is on the mainland approach to the lle de Noirmoutier. From north via Bourgneuf-en-Retz take D758 to Beauvoir-sur-Mer, then D22 to La Barre-de-Monts. Continue through town ignoring the road to Fromentine. At the town boundary turn right on D38b (Ile de Noirmoutier). In 500 m, straight on at roundabout for 1 km. then right (Grand Côte and Fromentine). Take next left for 1 km. to site.
