Domaine de l’Oiseliere is ideal for camping and campervan holidays and jsut 35 minutes from the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou. This is a small site with just 45 large pitches to choose from, 30 of which are for touring and are 200m2 and separated by hedges. There is a choice of full sun or shaded pitches with cover provided by oak trees. For families travelling in a caravan, large plots enable you to extend your awning easily. The site is a pedestrian zone; vehicles can drive to and from the pitches upon arrival and before departure. Otherwise, campers must use the adjacent parking area.
Camping Larrouleta is an all year site located at the heart of the Basque country. The site has been developed around a 2.5 hectare lake which has a sandy beach and is ideal for fishing. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, covered in low season. There is also a bar/restaurant specialised in local cuisine and where occasional Basque folk evenings are held in high season. The 327 touring pitches are of a good size. Choose between the standard (80m²) with electricity (5A), or a number of ‘Grand Confort’ pitches are available (about 100m²) with 10A electricity, water and drainage.
Located in the scenic coastal town of Locquirec in Brittany, Camping Municipal du Fond de la Baie is known for its prime location at the entrance of the peninsula. Spanning 3 hectares, the campsite offers a direct view of the sea and immediate access to the "Fond de la Baie" beach.
Bordered by the Moselle river, surrounded by the mountains of the Vosges and located just off the town square, this site is open all year making it a good base from which to explore in summer, and ideal for skiing in winter, when you might be tempted to rent one of the 40 chalets. Domaine de Champé is a level site with 80 touring pitches, all with 4/12A electricity, spread over a fairly large area on both sides of a tributary stream, so some are quite a distance from the facilities. There are two heated pools, one large outside and a smaller one inside. The village boasts a Theatre of the People, founded in 1895, giving shows in July and August. The Casino is open all year and is very popular.
This Atlantic coast holiday site, with direct access to a fine sandy beach, is on undulating terrain amongst tall pine trees. A large site with almost 500 pitches, there are 233 hardstanding pitches of varying sizes for touring units, all with electricity (10A). One half of the site is a traffic free zone (except for arrival or departure day, caravans are placed on the pitch, with separate areas outside for parking). There are 71 tent pitches, those in the centre of the site having some of the best views. This popular site has an excellent range of facilities available for the whole season.
Le Clos Auroy is a well established and attractive family run campsite with English-speaking Dutch owners. It is just 300 metres away from Orcet, a typical Auvergne village just south of Clermont-Ferrand. Being close (3 km) to the A75, and open all year, it makes an excellent stopping off point. It has a calm atmosphere, which may tempt you to stay longer. The 85 good sized pitches are on level grass, separated by high, neatly trimmed conifer hedges, offering lots of privacy and some shade. All have 10A electricity and eight are fully serviced. Situated on a gentle hillside, the higher pitches have better views but less shade than those lower down. The bar, restaurant and pool areas are close to the reception and entrance thus ensuring the remainder of the site is more tranquil. In winter, only 20 pitches are available.
Camping Pyrénées Nature is at the foot of the Pyrenees just outside the centre of Oloron-Sainte-Marie. Camping Pyrénées Nature offers a tranquil escape in a stunning setting, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. With its convenient facilities and diverse nearby activities, the campsite caters to a range of travellers seeking a memorable Pyrenean holiday. The site has 130 grass pitches, of which 110 are for touring units and have a 10-amp hook-up point available; all pitches are spacious and separated by hedges, giving you privacy, and mature trees shade most. There are also ten seasonal pitches and 11 chalets, bungalows and hikers' huts available to hire
Les Acacias is a small simple site, named after the surrounding acacia trees. In a rural location, the site is within easy reach of the A10 (5.5 km). Many gardens, museums and chateaux are nearby to visit and the picturesque site is set just a short distance from the Loire river. Probably the main reason one would stay here is that there is direct access along the river bank to Tours city centre. Separated by trees and shrubs, the 50 touring pitches are 100 sq.m. in size and have grass and gravel surfaces; 10A electricity is provided to 66 pitches. Mobile homes are available to rent. English was spoken by the reception staff when we visited.
Le Tivoli is a small family run site close to the Lot river on the outskirts of Mende. It has the advantage of being open all year. Of the 100 good sized and level grass pitches, 82 are for touring, all with 6A electricity. They are separated by mature trees which give varying amounts of shade. The site has been developed from farmland and has been owned by the same family for forty years. It offers simple, but adequate, facilities making it ideal for a short stay. There are many regulars to the site who visit when travelling south and then north en-route to and from Spain for the winter.
La Prairie is part of a large watersports complex set up by Causse Correzien. The site is located on the shore of Lac le Causse with watersports and bathing beach close by. It has 136 terraced pitches, 100 for touring all with 16A electricity. The pitches vary in size, some are shaded by trees and some are on hardstandings. The main attraction here, apart from the views, is the close proximity to the lake with its sailing and water-ski facilities. The site is 1 km. from the village of Lissac-sur-Couze with its restaurant and bars. Access is difficult for large outfits.
Pécany is a parc résidentiel de loisirs. There is a range of attractive chalet accommodation to rent here, as well as fully equipped safari style tents. All units are located on large pitches (at least 200 sq. m). Please note – there are no touring pitches here. The park is two km. from the small town of Le Buisson-de-Cadouin, at the heart of the Périgord. This is a spacious park with a good range of amenities including two swimming pools, a badminton court and a children’s playground. A number of delightful walks can be undertaken in the vicinity of the site.
Camping de Montreal is an all-year campsite, located just a few minutes from J42 on the A20. You can be sure of a warm welcome from Hans and Leonie, the Dutch owners of Camping de Montréal, in the heart of the Limousin countryside. The site provides 60 terraced pitches; 13 are occupied by chalets, mobile homes or bungalows, while 47 pitches are reserved for touring units. The pitches are mainly level, and most have excellent views over the eight-hectare leisure lake. All have electricity (10A), some have shade, and tall cypress hedges separate many. There are a few pitches near the sanitary block which have hardstandings and are used in the winter or after heavy rain. The single toilet block has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The small restaurant, open much of the year, is popular with campers and users of the lake.
Les Hameaux des Lacs is a member of the Chalets en France group. This group comprises four chalet parks in southern France. Please note, however, that there are no touring pitches here. The site is open all year and can be found at the heart of the Tarn et Garonne department, south east of Montauban and forms part of a Base de Loisirs. Leisure facilities on offer here include tennis, an equestrian centre, a swimming pool, and a multisports pitch. Sailing and windsurfing are popular on the lake, and fishing is also possible. Chalets here are attractively dispersed around the site and are all available to rent.
Camping Monaco Parc is located in Longny-les-Villages, France, within the heart of the Perche Regional Park. It's an excellent destination for those seeking a relaxing getaway in the French countryside. The campsite predominately consists of privately owned mobile homes spread over 25 hectares, but 12 Touring pitches with electric hook-up points are available.
Village Camping Club le Domaine des Guifettes is on the banks of the Lac des Guifettes (42 hectares), in the southern Vendée. On-site amenities here include a very impressive heated, covered swimming pool with a sauna, spa, massage shower, and paddling pool, as well as external water slides, multi-sport area, tennis, mini-golf and internet point. For anglers, the lake is well stocked and very popular. There are just 15 pitches on the two-hectare touring section, all are of a good size and 12 hardstandings are available in the adjacent motorhome service area. All have electrical connections (3/6/10A). A wide selection of mobile homes, chalets and gîtes are available to rent.
Camping Le Parc is in a very wooded area, less than 6 kilometres from the beaches of Palavas and Carnon. The campsite is also close to Montpellier, a busy student city, which can be reached by tram in about 20 minutes. Camping Le Parc is a perfect base for exploring the city and the beaches. The campsite has 66 touring pitches with electric hook-up points available. Thirty-four accommodation units are available to hire. The pitches are spacious and well-shaded by mature trees, separating each pitch and making them ideal for staying cool during the summer.
Camping le Paradis is a small, immaculate, family run site, open all year. You are assured of a very warm welcome here. There are 30 large, well spaced pitches with 24 for touring, separated by hedging and a variety of maturing trees give some shade. Nine are on grass and 15 have hardstanding. All have 10/16A electricity and many have a water tap. Five very large pitches are fully serviced with satellite TV point and drainage; ideal for very large units. The excellent facilities include large, spotlessly clean bathrooms with shower, washbasin and toilet, with one suitable for disabed visitors. Twin axle caravans are not accepted and during November to March you need to pre-book via the sites website.
Les Hameaux des Marines is a member of the Chalets en France group. This group comprises four chalet parks in southern France. Please note, however, that there are no touring pitches here. This coastal site is attractively situated 300 m. from a fine sandy beach at the northern tip of the Ile d’Oleron. The nearest beach, the Plage des Huttes has been awarded the European Blue Flag accreditation for its cleanliness. The site is open all year and includes a heated and covered swimming pool. The Ile d’Oleron has miles of excellent cycle tracks and a number of these run very close to the site. The 48 wooden chalets here are attractively dispersed around the site and are all available to rent.
This traditional rural campsite, located in oak woodland in Burgundy, is surrounded by agricultural land and is within striking distance of the towns of Auxerre, Gien, Joigny and Montargis. There are 29 good-sized touring pitches, with electrical connections (10A) available, and a further seven tent pitches; the remaining 55 are occupied by seasonal units and rental accommodation, including two wooden chalets. The nearby village of Champignelles has a few shops and cafés and a couple of restaurants, while Auxerre is a lively city, a Ville d’Art et d’Histoire and a major centre for wine and gastronomy, with the vineyards of Chablis just a few kilometres east.
Just 15 minutes from the Mediterranean coast at Agde, Domaine de Sainte Veziane is a residential park that is ideal for families with younger children. There are no touring pitches here, but 120 chalets and mobile homes, of which 75 are for hire. The original part of the site requires some up-and-down walking, but is very pretty, with flowering shrubs, mature trees and hedged pitches. The newer part is more open and may be subject to road noise. The pool area is the focal point of the site and has plenty to keep the whole family busy - slides and games for the children and a Jacuzzi and sun terrace for adults.
