Camping Les Marmottes is a popular campsite located in the Chamonix Valley, situated right at the foot of the Mont-Blanc massif and the iconic Glacier des Bossons. Known for its relaxed Alpine atmosphere and clear views of the surrounding peaks, it serves as an ideal base for hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and travellers looking to explore the Chamonix region.

The site sits at approximately 1,035 meters above sea level, with 70 grassy, clearly demarcated pitches equipped with optional European standard electric hookups, with a blend of sunny and shaded areas. On-site facilities include a covered communal lounge space open to all guests—ideal for shelter during rain—equipped with books, board games, and seating. Daily morning visit from a local baker (boulanger) provides fresh bread, croissants, and pastries. During high season, rotating local food stalls/trucks visit in the evenings, offering options like wood-fired pizzas, takeaway dishes, or burgers.   

The campsite is well-connected via public transport. It is within short walking distance of the Les Montquarts bus stop and the Les Bossons train station, allowing easy, car-free travel through the valley.  A short, gentle walk up from the campsite leads through pine forest to the Chalet du Glacier des Bossons. From here, you get close-up views of the icefall and an open-air historical display about local glaciology and historic plane crashes.

Fresh morning bread and pastry delivery (boulanger) available daily in July and August.  Evening food stalls/food trucks serving quick takeaway options (e.g., pizza, local dishes).Cold drinks, coffee, and ice cream available at reception. Playground for children, ping-pong tables, table football.  Shared indoor conviviality room with board games and books. Communal barbecue areas. Outdoor picnic tables. Wi-Fi coverage across most of the grounds. Pets allowed.

Directions to Camping Les Marmottes

The campsite is located 3 km from Chamonix town centre. From Sallanches, take the N205. After passing the Les Houches exit, take exit 30, Les Bossons.
At the crossroads, turn left and go under the main road.
At the roundabout, take the second exit and immediately turn right to go under the railway bridge.
Turn right again, and the campsite is 100m further on your left.
