Recently classified with a 5 star rating, Le Château de Fonrives is situated in Lot-et-Garonne. The site is set in pretty part-farmed, part-wooded countryside. It is a mixture of hazelnut woodland with a lake and château (mostly 18th century). An attractive tree-lined avenue leads to the barns adjacent to the château, which have been converted to house the site’s amenities. There are 390 pitches, 140 of which are for touring units, with electricity and water. They are of a generous size and are well defined by neatly trimmed hedges and small shrubs. Pitches near the woodland receive moderate shade, but elsewhere there is light shade from hedges and young trees.

There are also a large number of mobile homes here but they do not detract from the general feeling of spaciousness and due to the position of the touring pitches they appear well separated. For the more energetic, a ‘trim trail’ has been created in the woods surrounding the site. Those interested in history and culture will enjoy a visit to the nearby bastide town of Villereal. Here you will also find a large supermarket and markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
